When you hear the Law & Order “dun dun” theme song do you have a Pavlovian dog compulsion to climb into a king-sized bed with a bowl of soup or are you normal? The 2025 SAG Awards were an absolute delight, especially when host Kristen Bell reminded her famous colleagues that like 50% of the room had at one point or another appeared in the famous legal universe between the original flavor, Criminal Intent, and the holy grail of Special Victims Unit. As a 90s baby who grew up on unsupervised cable television marathons, it only felt right to shout out the best celebrity cameos on the Law & Order franchises. Add these to your queue ASAP!
Ranking Law & Order and SVU Celebrity Guest Stars
Timothée Chalamet
I’m not gonna lie, little Timmy was such an adorable little scene stealer in his very first television role on episode 10, season 19 of Law & Order. In “Pledge” Timothée plays a spoiled little tween who unfortunately gets whacked within the first few minutes.
Leighton Meester
The future Blair Waldorf also got her first shot on the small screen thanks to Law & Order. Leighton was a guest star (alongside Wendell Pierce, FYI) in a 1999 episode titled “Disciple.”
Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer can do just about anything, so it’s no surprise she transformed a guest spot on Law & Order: SVU into the dramatic role of a lifetime. In the season 7 episode “Storm,” Keke plays a traumatized child survivor of Hurricane Katrina who has to escape a sick and twisted predator.
Mahershala Ali
In season 11 of SVU, cinematic superstar Mahershala Ali plays a very, very bad man who falls under Elliot Stabler’s crosshairs.
Elle Fanning
The Fanning sisters have been cooking in the studio since they were virtual babies, including Elle’s impressive performance on SVU in 2006. In “Cage” Elle plays an illegally adopted child who bonds with Elliot’s other (inferior) partner, Dani Beck.
Zoe Saldaña
Before she was singing staccato in Emilia Pérez, Zoe Salanda was slaying the classic Law & Order: SVU walk and talk with Benson and Stabler in 1999. In the season 5 episode, “Criminal,” Zoe is an overprotective eldest daughter.
Hilary Duff
And when you speak about Hilary Erhard Duff, you put some respect on her name, because miss mamas was never afraid to pop off. In a season 10, episode 19 guest spot on SVU, Hilary plays Ashlee, a troubled young mom with far too much attitude for one courtroom.
Ian Somerhalder
Long before he was breaking necks on The Vampire Diaries, Ian plays the worst big brother of all time in an extremely twisty SVU episode. “Dominance” is also star-studded with Jason Ritter and Frank Langella so go watch it, like, now.
Jeremy Allen White
To me Jeremy Allen White will always be “Pizza Face” from Law & Order: SVU. pic.twitter.com/Egr39Qm51J

My fave Calvin Klein model is basically a Law & Order pro, appearing on two episodes of the show (“Melting Pot” and “Driven”) as well as Special Victims Unit (“Torch”).
Martin Short
Before you sit down and watch the comedic genius’ first foray into true crime, be warned, this SVU episode is not just for laughs. Martin’s villain era as psychic Sebastian Valentine in “Pure” will leave a major shiver down your spine.
Bradley Cooper with Angela Lansbury
After watching Bradley Cooper, Angela Lansbury, and Alfred Molina on Law and Order: SVU, you’ll definitely feel way better about your own dysfunctional family.
Amanda Seyfried
“Outcry” is one of my favorite episodes of SVU of all time because you have no idea where the episode is going at any point. In the season 6 scandal, Amanda is an underage teen at a college party gone wrong.
Blair Underwood
Blair Underwood is a bad, bad, bad ex-husband during his diabolical season 8 cameo on “Burned.” This episode is wayyyy scarier than Longlegs, FWIW.
Cynthia Nixon
Honestly, Cynthia should’ve gotten an Emmy, Oscar and Tony for this shit.
Brittany Snow
I firmly believe we need more Brittany Snow in 2025, and her performance as a mentally unwell teen wreaking havoc in Manhattan is just further proof of that. Brittany’s episode “Influence” premiered in 2006 and also features Norman Reedus.
Robin Williams
Had to save the GOAT for last obviously. In one of the most memorable episodes of all time, Robin Williams low-key goes Joker on the Special Victims Unit. IRL, he inspired all of the actors on set during the shoot.
