Between “So High School,” Taylor Swift’s bazillion appearances at Chiefs games, all the New Heights Taylor-focused episodes, and the fucking Tayvis-inspired Lifetime movie, it’s hard to remember a time before Tayvis. And yet, just over a year ago, Taylor and Travis Kelce were living entirely separate lives. Taylor was recovering from her life-altering situationship with Matty Healy (oh, and that little six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn) and Travis was single after ending things with his girlfriend of five years, Kayla Nicole. Travis and Kayla were first linked back in 2017 and they were on and off until their May 2022 split. A couple years later, Kayla’s ready to yap about their relationship on a reality show, and I will gladly embrace the tea: Here’s everything Kayla Nicole said about about her Travis Kelce breakup.
Kayla has a pretty iconic resume — she’s an on-air sports journalist and a fashion influencer. In addition to her work at sports media outlets like ESPN and Barstool (which is ironically Taylor’s No. 1 media ally), she’s also a model and an ambassador for brands like Savage X Fenty, Crocs, and Revolve. Naturally, Kayla’s also the founder of a health and wellness company called Tribe Therepē. Apparently, Kayla’s set to appear on the third season of the Fox reality show, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, which is a quasi-military training series. (It’s extremely unclear to me why anyone would voluntarily go on the show.) In a teaser for the season, Kayla can be seen shedding tears and alluding to her Travis breakup. “It’s been overwhelming,” she says about “going through a public breakup.” When another contestant, Alana Blanchard, asks Kayla who her ex is, the fashion influencer responds, “Travis Kelce.”

The reality show won’t be the first time Kayla’s opened up about her breakup and the intense backlash she’s received since Travis and Taylor started dating in September 2023. During an October 2024 episode of Unapologetically Angel, she shared, “I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and just online chaos doesn’t impact me.” Kayla emphasized that the hate comments are deeply hurtful. “You could go to my most recent post and it’ll be people debating why I’m worthless and how I’ll never be a talented person,” she added.
