Justin Baldoni’s Lawyer Has Thoughts About Ryan Reynolds’ Awkward 'SNL 50' Joke

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ PR team is really working overtime these days… They managed to pull off a publicity stunt for the couple during the February 16 Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special. People were surprised Blake and Ryan even showed up to the event at all, but were were all really surprised when there was a skit referencing the actors’ ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Ya know, the It Ends With Us drama that won’t end with anyone ever.

As I’m sure you’re aware, Blake sued Justin, her IEWU costar and director, after accusing him of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign against her. In response, Justin sued The New York Times over their reporting on the matter and Blake and Ryan for attempting to “destroy” his reputation.

Now, Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, is sharing his reaction to Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ SNL 50 joke about the legal battle.

During a February 17 episode of Hot Mics with Billy Bush, Bryan shared his thoughts on Blake and Ryan’s unexpected SNL appearance. “I’m unaware of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been sexually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation,” Bryan said, adding, “I can’t think of anyone who’s done anything like that. So it surprised me.”

In case you missed it, Blake and Ryan were in the audience at the 50th anniversary special, and during the Q&A segment, Ryan stood up to ask a question. When he stood up, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler asked, “Ryan Reynolds! How’s it going?” to which the actor pointedly replied: “Great! Why, what have you heard?” Tina and Amy hilariously shook their heads and assured him they’d only heard “cool” and “great stuff” about him recently.

Blake was smiling when Ryan first stood up, but when he joked about the ongoing scandal, she pretended to lose her smile and look shocked. (There’s no way she wasn’t in on the joke, despite what some TikTokers are theorizing.)

Justin’s lawyer also shared an update about Justin’s whereabouts during the podcast episode. Apparently, the director is currently staying in Hawaii with his wife, Emily Baldoni, and their kids, Maiya and Maxwell. “I don’t think anybody who has been accused of heinous, arguably what are crimes, is on vacation,” Bryan said. “I think that he is trying to gather with his family and get some semblance of peace.”

Blake, Ryan, and Justin are set to resolve their claims at a March 2026 trial, so I fear there’s much more Blake-Ryan-Justin saga to go. I’m so tired.
