Is Georgia Found Guilty In 'Ginny & Georgia' Season 3? A Breakdown Of That Wild Ending

The best show ever created (I’m, of course, talking about Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia) is back for season 3 after a very painful two-year wait. If you’re also a stan of the eventful mother-daughter series, I’m sure you recall that season 2 ended with quite the cliffhanger. Georgia gets arrested in the middle of her wedding day because, well, she suffocated and murdered her friend Cynthia’s comatose husband, Tom. It happens. Needless to say, her happy ending with Mayor Paul was indefinitely postponed. The writers were kind of diabolical for ending the season on that stressful note and then making us wait years for new episodes.

In the new season, Georgia’s on trial for murder, and as the courtroom drama unfolds, tensions run high, secrets come dangerously close to the surface, and Ginny has to start thinking more like her mother So, is Georgia ultimately found guilty in Ginny & Georgia season 3? Does she go to jail? Let’s break down the ending of the new season.

Warning: Spoilers ahead!!

The lucky bitch manages to avoid getting locked up! Here’s how: Her son, Austin, ends up taking the stand as the only witness and reveals that he witnessed the murder of Tom Fuller. But there’s more Instead of telling the truth about the murder, he lies and pins the blame on his biological father, Gil. It’s giving perjury but for a good-ish cause.

But while Austin was the one speaking in court, Ginny was obviously the real mastermind behind the scenes. She blackmailed Cynthia into suggesting that it was possible Gil had been at her house the night of the murder — threatening to expose Cynthia’s secret affair with Joe if she didn’t cooperate. Ginny was also the one who convinced her little brother to go through with the lie to protect their mom. (“It’s a murder trial; we have to give them a murderer,” she tells Austin.) She’s really in her scheming era this season, fortunately for Georgia.

Upon wrapping that final courtroom scene where Austin lies, Brianne Howey (the queen who plays Georgia) told Tudum, “It’s an out-of-body moment. Georgia was fully resigned to the fact she was going away, so this completely rips the rug out from under her.” According to Brianne, Georgia totally thought that her son would say he was upstairs and didn’t see anything.

What’s next for the fam? Well, Georgia’s gonna have to reckon with her kids crafting an elaborate lie for her, and Ginny’s gonna have to explore this new version of herself. Austin is realistically gonna need therapy for the rest of his life. Personally, I need season 4 right now.
