For the seventh time, it feels like Nick and Vanessa have firmly answered the question: is love blind? If the Love Is Blind season 7 cast has taught us anything the answer is HARD no. Still, the DC crew has provided us with at least one couple we can actually root for in Garrett and Taylor. Of all the Love Is Blind: DC men, Garrett rang in low on the list of potential problem children. He started out as a studious little science boy who was more familiar with holding a fish than a woman, but ever since he fell for Taylor, Garrett seriously leveled up. This is why it was truly shocking when Garrett uttered the words “It obviously didn’t mean anything” in an episode 9 preview shared by Netflix. I wasn’t instantly furious in Taylor’s honor but I figured I should get the full story before showing up at his home with pitchforks ablaze. So, did Garrett cheat on Taylor during Love Is Blind? Here’s a full breakdown of his fuckup.
No, Garrett did not cheat on Taylor but he did betray her trust by liking a message from an ex and not telling her the full truth about it right away. After said ex reached out Garrett apparently “didn’t know how to react” so he just liked the message and “forgot” about the whole thing as the day went on, instead of firmly shutting it down. Later Taylor caught wind of the shitty exchange one hour before they had to go to the group party when her only worry should be how she was going to dance all night in those heels.

Garrett’s initial defense was that because this woman was just someone from his past he that no longer cares about, he didn’t think to share with Taylor that the ex had reached out. Pro-tip for all the Garretts out there: if you’re sharing bodily fluids with someone, let alone have proposed to spend eternity as a team, maybe clue them in on just about everything. To his credit, Garrett reassures Taylor “100% here” and profusely apologizes for “missing something.” This naturally triggers Taylor’s trust issues, especially considering the fact that she’s been cheated on in her past, and she expresses in their tense convo.
Unfortunately, things would only get worse before they got better when Garrett let it slip he actually did more than like the message. At some point he replied to the ex, writing “I didn’t tell you this but I met someone, I’m engaged” so she should “have a great life.” As someone who’s been cheated on, Taylor explained she has serious trust issues and was thus v triggered by now Garrett’s multiple omissions, even if his reply was about their relationship.
For a second there it looked like Taylor was freaked out enough by the “red flags” to call off their meeting with her parents. But in the end, Garrett manages to convince her that though he may have been a dumb boy about the whole thing, he’s a dumb boy who loves her and can follow instructions well enough to make sure this never happens again. My gut says that’s true but Garrett, if you break our girl’s heart, I’m coming after your ass with a protractor.

Garrett explains that the ex who texted him was someone he was in a relationship with six and a half years ago. I guess he left quite an impression for her to circle back all of these years later. So far, whoever this mystery texter is, she hasn’t appeared on the show or spoken out on social media — yet. We all know how the Love Is Blind exes get super thirsty for their 15 seconds of fame when the opportunity presents itself.
