Um, Everyone Thinks This 'Love Is Blind' UK Couple Might Low-Key Be Cousins

In a very unexpected twist, one of our brand new betrothed couples from Love Is Blind UK might be blood-related. I’m going to need something a lot stronger than PG Tips to process this. On the one hand, I’m surprised nothing like this has ever happened before in the LIB cinematic universe (I guess the closest we got was exes Lydia and Uche being on the same season). On the other, it’s just so British royalty coded that their dainty little island could produce two members of the same lineage looking for love at the same damn time. Fun fact: studies have shown people do accidentally gravitate towards their previously unknown relatives as adults because of an inexplicable vibe. It’s called genetic sexual attraction and it will make you check family trees in your local townie bar for the rest of your life. Lucky for us, the UK couple in question has now had to do exactly that before things got too far. Sooo… are Freddie and Cat from Love Is Blind UK cousins? We have the answer.

Are Freddie and Cat from Love Is Blind UK cousins?

No, cue: deep sigh of relief. Accidental incest would be the only thing more shocking than Sam’s deranged behavior as the biggest walking red flag in LIB history. As Netflix UK producers confirmed directly to The Tab, Freddie and Cat are not cousins after all. I guess we should’ve given Netflix more credit for looking into these sorts of things before the season started. Sorry, y’all.

Why did people think Freddie and Cat were cousins?

Freddie and Cat hit it off day one in the pods as two very attractive, very sweet, family-oriented Brits looking for love. Eventually, Catherine started asking Freddie about his surname and family history (I’d be trying to lock that man down too as soon as possible, TBF). In this little convo, they discovered that both of their grandparents were named Mary and Bill. What are the odds of that? Plus, Freddie and Catherine kind of do look alike in the grand scheme of faces. They don’t give brother/sister energy, but still, it wouldn’t be hard to picture them laughing over Nan’s Yorkshire pudding at the big family reunion. However, it turns out it was just a funny coincidence! Down the aisle they go.
