I’m unwell but in the best possible way: The Freaky Friday sequel is officially in production and coming to theaters soon!!! Yes, you read that right! Disney Studios shared the glorious news in a June 24 Instagram post, featuring a photo of Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan posing together and holding hands by a trailer. Ahhhhh, this friendship is everything. It’s been more than 20 years since the release of the original film, which (as I would hope you know) follows a mother and daughter who are forced to work out their issues when they wake up in switched bodies. Chaos and magic ensues, and I cannot wait to see what’s in store for us in the second installment.
Back in March, Lindsay told People that she was “excited to work with Jamie again and see how much further we can take it.” She added, “We talk almost every other day in general, so I think we’re going to have a lot of fun with this.” I’m absolutely living for the Lindsay Lohan comeback era. Here’s everything you need to know about Freaky Friday 2, including the premiere date, cast, and plot details.

According to the Disney Studios post, we can expect the new Freaky Friday to hit theaters in 2025! Yeah, I’d love it if they could be a little more specific than that, but I’m sure we’ll get an update soon.
Who’s In The Freaky Friday 2 Cast?
Obviously, queens Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are returning to reprise their roles of Anna and Tess Coleman, respectively. But that’s not all! They’ll also be joined by these members of the original cast: Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao. Screaming, crying, throwing up.
New cast members joining the franchise include Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sophia Hammons.
What’s The Plot Of Freaky Friday 2?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lindsay Lohan’s character, Anna, is planning on moving to London with her fiancé, British restaurateur Eric Davies. Jamie Lee Curtis’ character, Tess, isn’t thrilled about that. Based on some leaked audition sides, there’s a double swap situation where Anna and Tess swap bodies with two teenage girls, Anna’s 14-year-old daughter, Harper and her soon-to-be step-sister, Lily. Harper is apparently not in favor of this marriage, and she and Lily don’t get along. Well, I’m sat.
