Cynthia keeps her romantic relationships private because she already shares so much of her life with the world. “I’m very tight-lipped with my relationships, ’cause I don’t think that my relationship is for anyone else but for me,” she explained during a recent Vanity Fair interview. “I spend so much of my life sharing everything — whether it’s my work or my soul or my life in speeches. I think I give enough of myself that I’m allowed to keep something for me.”

However, the actress and singer does feel comfortable speaking about her queer identity. She noted, “It’s enough for people to know that I’m a queer person who could have relationships with men or women or neither.” Cynthia came out as bisexual in an August 2022 British Vogue Pride issue.

When the Wicked star appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show in September 2022, she opened up about coming out later in life. “I don’t think I had the language to even know what was going on,” Cynthia reflected on the show. “It’s come much later to me now and it’s wonderful to just be me, really.
