On-Field NFL Besties Ready To Give The Rest Of The League Major FOMO In 2024

Who’s ready to let 11 men in tights determine their mood every Thursday through Sunday for four and a half months? Meeeee! It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year, AKA football season, where screaming profanities five feet away from your four-year-old nephew is not only acceptable, but character-building. The 24-25 NFL season has arrived in full force, with a lot of new talent carefully drafted and players fresh and familiar having gotten a fair chance to stretch out their twinkle toes in the preseason. Still, the lights on the primetime stage are always bound to stir up a few nerves, which is why it’s a good thing the NFL has an unofficial buddy system.

Some of our favorite pro-bowlers wouldn’t be half as gas without their partners in crime on the field to get that ball down the field. Whether it’s coming in clutch to turn that lateral into a down or teaming up to keep the red zone clear, the best NFL player duos of 2024 are nothing to play with.

The Best NFL Player Duos of 2024

Jalen Hurts And A.J. Brown (Philadelphia Eagles)

The best part about quarterback Jalen Hurts’ electric connection with wide receiver A.J. Brown is that the pair have been besties long before A.J. was traded to the Eagles after the 2021 season. The offensive duo have been friends since they were young teenagers, and have cheered each other on from their pre-pro days playing for Alabama and Ole Miss. When Jalen finds the route through the line to get A.J. the ball, a rocket launch to the end zone is all but a done deal.

Travis Kelce And Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs)

Mr. Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes’ favorite wife guy are now famously the male leads of an era-defining Swiftie squad off the field. Their best work is still arguably on the field though, with Kelce’s sheer force and agility making him one of the highest-performing tight ends of all time. Combine Kelce’s consistent skill with Mahomes A+ arm and playmaking ability outside the pocket, and you have a gruesome twosome everyone should fear.

Trevon Diggs And DaRon Bland (Dallas Cowboys)

These two cornerbacks are easy to overlook until you’re watching them turn your hail Mary TD attempt into a pick or even worse, pluck the ball from your receiver’s outstretched hands. After Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021, Daron matched his freak by turning five of his own nine interceptions into touchdowns. Between finagling extra possessions and some killer picks, these are the last two guys you want to drop your guard around.

Tua Tagovailoa And Tyreek Hill (Miami Dolphins)

Tyreek Hill is a wide receiver who racks up yards per route run like it’s his job (because it is). Hoarding yards is something he has in common with Dolphins’ comeback hero Tua Tagovailoa, who earned the league’s most passing yards (4,624 to be exact) in the 2023 regular season. Now that Tua is back for his second hopefully injury-free season, these two can go together like peanut butter and jelly. It only helps that Hill has shown a lot of love for his QB in the off-season.

Justin Jefferson And Jordan Addison (Minnesota Vikings)

Prior to rumors of a potential six-game suspension for Jordan Addison due to a DUI, his tag-teaming with fellow WR Justin Jefferson was set to be the secret sauce to a powerful Vikings offense in 2024. If both Addison and Jefferson get a shot at a full regular season this duo could be the key to helping Sam Darnold stop turning the ball over like me the night before that team presentation I didn’t agree to.

Joe Burrow And Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals)

America’s blue-eyed babe (that’s a technical sports term) and The Chosen 1 go together so bad because they’ve been doing their duo thang since their days at LSU. Are these two close? As Ja’Marr puts it he talks and hangs with Joe “on the daily” and Joe’s poise makes him a leader that everyone can respect. Another Super Bowl bid feels likely for these two hooligans.

TJ Watt And Alex Highsmith (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Watt and Highmisth’s combined 82 tackles are part of what makes the Steelers’ line capable of game-changing plays that bullied the Steelers into last year’s playoffs. This edge-rusher duo to beat is already stirring up predictions for Defensive Player of the Year nominations. Experts are also predicting I’ll be calling these two if I’m ever walking home from the bar in Yinzer Nation and need a little safety muscle.
