Charlotte York Is Actually The Best 'Sex And The City' Character

In the year 2025, deep into the And Just Like That… era of the Sex and the City ladies’ lives, Charlotte York seems to be everyone’s favorite character. In the reboot series, Miranda made the wild choice to chase Che Diaz for two seasons, Samantha is MIA, and Carrie is constantly being Carrie. So that leaves Charlotte (played by the inimitable Kristin Davis), who in her middle age seems truer to herself than ever before and is a fiercely loyal friend. And I’m all for it, except for one small thing; this isn’t some new revelation that came with And Just Like That… Charlotte has always been fabulous.

For a lot fans of Sex and the City, Charlotte was seen as the boring or prudish one. She was the last one you’d want to get in any of the many “Which SATC Character Are You?” quizzes that seem to make up half the internet. But in my eyes, Charlotte isn’t boring; she just clearly knows who she is and acts accordingly. And sure, sometimes she was shocked by some of the other ladies scandalous brunch talk, but the truth is, Charlotte slept with the same number of men as Carrie during the series’ original run (18 men each, for those keeping score). In case you need to jog your memory, here are some of Charlotte’s best Sex and the City moments that prove just how fabulous she’s always been.

Best Charlotte Moments In Sex And The City

The Staten Island Dance

In the first episode of season 3, the girls take a trip from the island of Manhattan to the island of Staten for a firefighter fashion show and dance party. But the real fun begins when Charlotte gets a couple Long Island iced teas deep and fully lets loose. She’s so adorably uninhibited on the dance floor — it’d be hard not to love her.

Pretending She’s In Her 20s

In season 2, episode 17, the girls take another trip, this time out to the Hamptons. Even though Charlotte is firmly in her thirties, she lets a guy think she’s a twentysomething and has a fling with him for the weekend. Sure, she gets crabs from him, but it’s still a delight to watch Charlotte have fun.

Standing Up To Trey

Even though Charlotte’s whole relationship with Trey ended in a mild disaster, we got to see her really grow and stand up for herself over the course of it. When Trey’s mother, Bunny, got way too involved (and literally put herself in between the couple in bed), Charlotte pushed back. When Trey seemed to only want to sleep with Charlotte and nothing else, she pushed back again. And when Trey gave her a creepy cardboard cut-out of a baby during their infertility struggles, she got the hell out of that marriage.

Wedding To Harry

Harry, on the other hand, is Charlotte’s true love, even though he’s nothing like she expected her dream man to be. For one thing, she converted to Judaism for him, and for another, nearly everything went wrong on their wedding day. But Charlotte kept her cool for it all, proving that she’s the person who really will do anything for love and stay steady.

Yelling At Big

This one’s from the first Sex and the City movie, but it’s iconic. After Big leaves Carrie at the altar on their wedding day, Charlotte plans the perfect line to say to him if she ever runs into him: “I curse the day you were born.” Luckily, she does see him and gets the chance to yell those words, all while hurling shopping bags at him. Big deserved it.

“Each Other’s Soulmates”

My all-time favorite Charlotte moment is in the first episode of season 4 when Charlotte proposes to the group that they can maybe “be each other’s soulmates.” It’s cheesy and overly optimistic, but still so pure and sweet… just like Charlotte.
