Is Taylor Really "Taking A Step Back" From Blake Amid The 'It Ends With Us' Drama? An Update

After learning that Taylor Swift was (seemingly) involved in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s It Ends With Us mess, fans are wondering where Taylor and Blake’s friendship stands today. In case you missed it, Justin sued Blake after she accused him of sexual harassment and retaliation, and his lawsuit, there’s an alleged text exchange between him and Blake where they seem to discuss Taylor.

In the alleged text convo, Blake and Justin appear to discuss Blake rewriting a scene in the movie and showing him that rewrite in front of her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Taylor. Per the texts, Blake compared herself to the Game of Thrones character, Khaleesi, and seemingly called Ryan and Taylor her “dragons.” Justin’s accusing the Gossip Girl alum of using Ryan and Taylor to intimidate him into making script changes.

Now, there are rumors that the chaotic legal battle is negatively affecting Taylor and Blake’s longtime friendship. So, are Taylor Swift and Blake Lively still friends after all this? Here’s an update.

On January 29, The Daily Mail reported that Taylor had “taken a step back” from her friendship with Blake after her name came up in Justin’s lawsuit. According to their source, the singer was concerned about being used as an “intimidation tactic” and didn’t want to “get tangled in this more than she already has.”

“Taylor shouldn’t even be involved in this at all,” the “insider” added. “She was only going over to visit Blake and Ryan with the understanding that the meeting would be over.” A second source claimed that Taylor “is conscious of her own image and hates that she was even mentioned.”

But a source for E! shut these rumors down the same day, claiming, “It’s not true.” Unfortunately, they didn’t offer any more details. Personally, I’m inclined to believe the E! source because these blondies have been BFFS for more than a decade. They’re always seen getting NYC dinners together, Blake sat with Taylor at the 2024 Super Bowl, and Blake even directed Taylor’s 2021 music video for “I Bet You Think About Me.”

Not to mention, Blake’s kids have made multiple appearances in Taylor’s discography. The Reputation track, “Gorgeous,” includes a voice memo from Blake’s daughter, and Taylor also name-dropped her bestie’s kids in folklore’s “Betty.” I’m guessing Taylor’s focused on supporting Blake during this legal battle — not dropping her.

We’ll have to wait and see if Blake’s invited to join Taylor at the Super Bowl this year…
