The Swifties are in full-on crisis mode after convincing themselves that Joe Alwyn and Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift’s ex-BF and ex-bestie, are dating. And during Taylor’s pre-second Reputation era, no less! The scandal! If you’re somewhat well-versed in Taylor lore, you’re aware that Blondie passionately hates the Kardashians because of the whole ~Kanye saying he “made that bitch famous” and Kim sharing an edited phone call to make Taylor look like a liar~ situation. Not to mention, Taylor and Kendall both dated Harry Styles, like, within a few months of each other in 2013. For these reasons, Joe and Kendall would be a truly unhinged couple, but I suppose anything’s possible in Hollywood — it’s not like I saw Taylor and Ratty Healy coming. So, are Joe Alwyn and Kendall Jenner actually dating? Let’s break down the rumors and theories.
On October 19, everyone who’s anyone attended the glamorous 2024 Academy Museum Gala. Obviously, the KarJenner crew made an appearance and so did our favorite yogurt boy, Joe. A few days after the event, Vogue posted a carousel of photos from the evening and decided to be messy and include one of Kendall posing with Joe and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Panicked social media chatter started immediately because of course, the chronically online Swifties are concerned that this photo translates to: Kendall and Joe are dating. And I fear the Conversations with Friends actor only fueled the rumors more when he “liked” Kendall’s photo dump from the gala. This is definitely love. There is no question. A photo together (with Patrick) and a “like”? Joe and Kendall are probably getting married tomorrow.

I kid, I kid. But despite the somewhat lacking evidence, Joe and Kendall are being accused of “soft-launching” a relationship. “If you know anything about KarJenner land, a relationship is usually launched by some pictures together hanging out at an award show or something and an Instagram like,” one TikTok creator wisely pointed out. “That’s how they soft launch.” Another theory is that Joe’s just trying to piss off Taylor, which seems plausible. In a Reddit convo about the Joe and Kendall developments, one user chimed in, “I love that he’s trolling lol.” And then there are sane people like me who think this is either A. a planned PR stunt (looking at you, Kris) or B. literally two celebs who chatted at an event and happened to be photographed together.
While I’m not totally convinced they’re dating, far crazier things have happened. Perhaps there’s a future for Kenoe… Jondall? We’ll have to wait and see.
