I Can Barely Keep Up With All Of Alix Earle's Controversies

I fear a messy queen is always going to do what she does best: Make mess. So, to expect anything else of Alix Earle, a self-described “hot mess,” would simply be naive. But I guess Alix takes messiness to a whole new level. To be fair, you’re bound to get a little messy when your whole brand is oversharing on TikTok. So, in that way, Alix is simply staying true to herself with her many controversies.

“I’m pretty much an open book,” Alix told NYLON in 2023. “What you see is online, and it’s what you’re going to get.” Well, what we’ve seen online is several feuds with other influencers, getting dropped by her podcast network, and even a lawsuit or two. A hot mess indeed!

Alix knows that people talking about her is par for the course when you’re in the public eye. “You’re open to a lot of different opinions and critiques,” she told Cosmopolitan about her life of fame. “I’ve had to work on letting go of that and understanding that not everyone is going to (1) agree with me and (2) like me.”

Well, hopefully, she has really done all that work because we’re going to take a deep dive into all of Alix Earle’s controversies.

Alix Earle’s Use Of Racial Slur

In 2024, some screenshots of Alix’s ask.fm account from 2014 resurfaced, and they showed Alix using a racist slur. Alix very quickly apologized, writing in a post:

“A couple of weeks ago, screenshots surfaced from my old ask.fm account showing me using a slur in the summer of 2014. I am taking accountability and want to make it clear that I was 13 years old and did not understand the deeply offensive meaning behind that word. That is no excuse for using that word in any context or at any age. That is absolutely not the way I speak or what I stand for. I am deeply sorry that my words have hurt many and have led people to believe that I have any prejudice in my heart. I promise you that could not be further from the truth.”

That probably would have been the end of it, but Alix’s lawyers got involved and contacted two podcast hosts who posted the screenshots to a Subreddit. The lawyers allegedly claimed the screenshots were trademarked (which is a very weird thing to do with images of a racist post) and said they needed to be taken down. Alix said the trademarking claims were “absolutely ridiculous and untrue,” and the whole thing kind of just fizzled out. Guess we’ll never fully know the truth.

Sophia Culpo Cheating Accusations

Alix has been with her boyfriend, Braxton Berrios, for around two years, but they possibly have some shady origins. According to Braxton’s ex, Sophia Culpo, there may have been some overlap in the relationships. FWIW, Alix, and Braxton deny there was any cheating.

Alex Cooper Feud

In 2023, worlds collided when Alix announced her Hot Mess podcast would be part of Alex Cooper’s Unwell network. But, perhaps the mess was a little too hot for Alex because by February 2025, Alix and her pod got dropped. Alix had been skipping out on some Unwell events, and Alex Cooper started heaping a lot of praise on other influencers besides Alix. We don’t know exactly what went down, but they’ve gone their separate ways. And now, Alix is taking a break from podcasting altogether.

Gymshark Lawsuit

In 2024, Alix filed a lawsuit against the British brand Gymshark for ending an influencer deal with her because of her “perceived stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict.” After Alix posted a pro-Israel comment on her Instagram story, Gymshark customers were upset. According to Alix, the company dropped her because of this, but Gymshark alleged there never even was a contract to begin with. Very suspicious.

In January 2025, Alix and Gymshark settled out of court. It all seems to have worked out for Gymshark, though, because the whole lawsuit has made a lot of TikTok-ers buy Gymshark clothes to show their support for the brand.

Bethenny Frankel Feud

Okay, this one isn’t so much a feud as much as a miscommunication. In March 2025, Alix ghosted RHONY alum Bethenny Frankel, and Bethenny made a big stink about having to go to dinner alone. They both made multiple TikToks about the situation, so I guess you really can make content out of anything.
