Every generation needs a TV show that captures just how weird being a young adult is, and Gen Z finally has its version, very aptly titled Adults. Some people are calling it the Gen Z Girls, while others think it’s the Gen Z Friends. Both shows are obviously cultural touchstones, so those are some high bars for Adults to meet. But it could be up for the challenge.

Like its predecessors, the new FX series Adults follows a bunch of twenty-somethings as they navigate the ups and downs of newly minted adulthood in New York City. It’s a low-key, feel-good show, and it’s got some big names, like executive producer Nick Kroll, behind it. “We’re not trying to hide the fact that it’s a sitcom about friends. It’s not high concept. We’re not trying to trick anybody. There is no twist,” executive producer Stefani Robinson told TV Insider. “There’s a reason these shows are so special and so important to so many different people, and that they can be watched over and over and over again, there’s a comfort factor.”

A good ol’ fashioned buddy hangout comedy might be just exactly what society needs right now. Here’s everything you need to know about the new FX show Adults.

What is the show Adults about?

Adults is about five twenty-somethings figuring out how to exist in the real world as they crash at one of their childhood homes in Queens, NY. According to FX, the show “puts a slightly heightened twist on the wins, losses, and humiliations of starting out in the adult world. Whether they’re trying to get ahead at work, navigating the healthcare system, hosting a dinner party, or dating in the age of Find My Friends, the group is finding that nothing about the real world is simple, and all their best intentions tend to make things worse.”

Who’s in the cast of Adults?

The series stars Malike Elassal as Samir, Lucy Freyer as Billie, Jack Innanen as Paul Baker, Amita Rao as Issa, and Owen Thiele as Anton.

How do you watch Adults?

Adults premiered on May 28, 2025, with the first two episodes of season 1 on FX and Hulu. Then, all season 1 episodes are available on Hulu beginning May 29.

Will there be a season 2 of Adults?

Since Adults just premiered, it’s a little too early to say whether or not there will be another season. But if it’s anything like all the other hangout comedies that came before it, we’ll have years and years of hanging out with this group of friends some more.
