If case anyone was wondering, I still passionately hate Zach Bryan. Always have, always will! If Zach Bryan has zero haters, I’m dead <3. As you’re probably aware by now, social media star Brianna Chickenfry dated the toxic country singer for a little over a year and recently accused him of emotional abuse and attempting to silence her with $12 million. Imagine just… being nice to women so you don’t have to try to shut them up with $12 MILLION. What a concept. Bri’s BFFs podcast cohosts, Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards, have been releasing multiple diss tracks about Zach, which is truly iconic. In the first, “Smallest Man,” they spoof Zach’s song, “28,” and sing “How lucky is Bri / To be free of ZB / And his STDs.” Give them a Grammy, immediately. Now, is there a reason why they chose that song to spoof? I dare say there is. Fans/chronically online people think “28” is about Bri, and that’s not the only ZB track rumored to be inspired by her. So, which Zach Bryan songs are about Brianna Chickenfry? As an expert lyric-overanalyzer, here’s what I think.
Zach Bryan Songs About Brianna Chickenfry
Is Zach Bryan’s Song “28” About Brianna Chickenfry?
If you follow all the Bri and Zach lore on TikTok or Reddit, you know that “28” is famously known as thee Zach song about Brianna. “You took a train to the south side of Boston / You showed me where your whole heart stayed,” he croons in the first verse. (Bri is from Boston and they moved to a house in Massachusetts together.) In the next lines, he sings, “Took twenty-eight years of blood pumpin’ through me / To feel loved on my own birthday.” Bri’s been very open about the fact that she was madly in love with them and that’s unfortunately the reason why she didn’t leave him a long time ago. Zach singing “How lucky are we” in the chorus always gave me the ick. Like, no. How lucky were you, bitch. You didn’t deserve her for three seconds.
Is Zach Bryan’s Song “High Road” About Brianna Chickenfry?
This one’s a little less ~on the nose~, but I do think “High Road” is at least partially about Brianna, considering Zach released the song on November 7, two weeks after their breakup. He sings about “adderall and white-lace bras” and a woman’s jeans in his pickup truck before admitting, “New York this time of year ain’t good for me / ’Cause all my friends lack self-control and empathy.” (Aw, it’s so hard to be Zach.) Bri lived in New York for at least three years, so that reference is telling. Zach also says in track, “Everyone is tellin’ me that I need help or therapy.” Hmmm, maybe take that as a sign, my friend enemy!! I have a feeling Bri was telling him that their whole relationship, and she also addressed him directly during the BFFs tell-all episode: “I don’t think you need Raya. I think you need therapy.” Yup.
I have to assume there will be more Brianna-inspired Zach tunes, but fortunately, we don’t have to stream them!
