There are always two major question hanging over any season of HBO’s The White Lotus: Who gets murdered, and who does the murdering? But while those big season-long mysteries are cooking, there are also some smaller mysteries to solve. Like, what’s the deal with Tanya’s ex husband and his name change? And, why is Rick so invested in getting to Bangkok? And, perhaps most importantly, why are the Ratliff siblings so damn creepy?
There’s one more mystery in The White Lotus season 3. In episode 2, a masked robber entered the hotel gift shop while Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) were shopping. The robber smashed the display cases and stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry and accessories, all while holding Chelsea and the store employee at gun point. Luckily for Chloe, she was hidden away in a dressing room during the whole ordeal, but Chelsea was pretty shaken up by the whole thing and couldn’t get over the fact that she could have died. I’d probably react the same way, although it also seems like risking your life is just par for the course when you stay at any White Lotus resort. But now we’re left wondering about this masked thief. Here are the best theories about the masked robbery in The White Lotus season 3.
Theories About The Masked Robbery In The White Lotus Season 3

Chloe Is Involved
It’s a little suspicious that the whole robbery went down all while Chloe was very conveniently tucked away in a dressing room. Maybe she was helping to orchestrate the whole thing? She was also really quick to shoot down Chelsea’s fears that she could have died during the robbery; maybe Chloe had some insider intel that her friend definitely would have been safe.
Since Chloe is Gary/Greg’s (Jon Gries) girlfriend, he could also be a part of the scheme. We already know from his appearances in previous seasons that he’ll do nearly anything in order to bag some cash, so it’s definitely not out of the question that he’s involved.
Valentin is Behind It
Right before the robbery, the wellness expert Valentin (Arnas Fedaravicius) stopped at the security booth to chat up Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong). While he talked, a car sped past them and slipped in, very likely carrying the robber and his accomplice. Valentin distracted Gaitok from stopping the car, and maybe it was all part of a plan he had to get the robber onto the resort property.
Mook Is Going To Play A Bigger Role
There hasn’t been much of Mook in The White Lotus season 3 yet, but I have a feeling we’re going to see more from her soon, especially since she’s played by an International super star (Blackpink’s Lisa). In episode 2, Mook mentioned to Gaitok that her brother works at the resort too, so maybe he used his insider access to execute the robbery. It would make it all really heartbreaking if Mook’s brother is the one who beat up Gaitok during the robbery on their way out of the resort, since Gaitok has such a huge crush on Mook. But heartbreaking moments like that are typical on The White Lotus, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
