We’ve all been chugging Diet Coke and clutching our pearls, waiting for season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, ready to see our favorite bleached blonde, soda-loving wifeys back in action. But this season, there’s a new face in the lineup — only she’s not exactly new.
Enter: Miranda McWhorter, one of the OG MomTok influencers and former bestie/collaborator to our Regina George of Mormon TikTok, Taylor Frankie Paul.
So, who is Miranda? Why is she just now joining the chaos for season 2? And what exactly was her role in the swinging scandal that rocked MomTok to its core?
Grab your soda (and maybe a snack) — we’re diving in.
Who Is Miranda McWhorter?
Back in the golden age of MomTok, Miranda was part of the original Mormon Mommy dream team alongside Taylor Frankie Paul and Camille Munday. She quickly built a following by sharing choreographed dances, funny family moments, and collabs with fellow Utah moms.
Today, she’s still active on TikTok, posting cute kid content, trending audio remakes, and the occasional nod to her now-infamous past.
Who Is Miranda McWhorter Married To?
Miranda met Chase McWhorter right after graduating from high school in 2016. In true Utah fast-forward mode, they got married a year later. By 2019, they welcomed their first child, a son named Brooks, and in 2021, their daughter Cohen joined the family. Both kids are regulars on Miranda’s social media.
In 2024, Miranda and Chase announced their divorce, claiming it was amicable and that they were committed to co-parenting. “I think we both realized we’d gotten married a little prematurely,” Chase told Us Weekly —You think? She was 20, bruh.
Was Miranda McWhorter Involved In The Swinging Scandal?
Ah yes, the scandal — the soft-swinging saga that shook TikTok to its core in 2022 and made “MomTok” the most chaotic corner of the internet.
Taylor Frankie Paul named Miranda and Chase as part of the now-iconic friend group allegedly involved in “soft swinging” (read: sometimes swapping spouses… sometimes not).
In 2024, Chase confirmed to Us Weekly that they had attended those parties:
“I think we all have regrets… But at the same time, why does this have to be a public thing? It seems like this was all happening behind closed doors, and now Taylor’s using it as a springboard to notoriety when she’s the one who actually just cheated.”
Chase emphasized that nothing was pre-planned—it just… kinda happened after drinks and games like Spin the Bottle. Then Miranda went on The Viall Files podcast and casually confirmed that, yes, she and Chase had sex while another couple did the same “in the other corner of the room.” Um, I’m down!!
However, it is worth noting that in season 1, Demi confirmed Taylor’s version of events! She stated that she didn’t participate but saw it happen: “It was like swapping in front of each other, standing right next to each other.”
Is Miranda McWhorter On The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives This Season?
Miranda and Camille originally passed on joining season 1, and Taylor was quick to claim it was because they didn’t want to be on the show with her.
But plot twist: In the first episode of season 2, a bleach-blonde bombshell walks into a group event — and no, it’s not Whitney with yet another haircut. It’s Miranda. Jessi’s voiceover sets the tone: “Miranda is Taylor’s ex-best friend.”
Then Miranda? She wastes no time claiming she’s there to “set the record straight” about the swinging scandal—and pretty much discredits Taylor’s version of events altogether.
When Taylor shows up later, she’s not exactly thrilled to see her former bestie. “Pretty uncomfortable, I will say,” she says on camera. “Because I haven’t really talked to her since everything… I don’t know why she’s here, I guess. I’m very confused.”
Taylor has long alleged that Miranda and Chase were involved in swinging and that Chase even confessed feelings for Taylor at one point.
Are Taylor And Miranda Friends Again?
Post-scandal, the two were definitely not on speaking terms. They unfollowed each other, threw subtle (and not-so-subtle) shade online, and made it very clear the friendship was over.
But with Miranda’s surprise entry in season 2 — and a joint promo tour in full swing — the vibes seem to be… tentatively healed? The two sat down this season to talk through their friendship and admitted doing wrongdoing on both sides.
They’ve also been doing press together, tagging each other in TikToks, and even attended the premiere side-by-side. Miranda posted one clip of them at the event with the caption: “When your bestie outed you for being a swinger.” I guess friend groups are usually based on some kind of shared trauma.

When speaking to People, Miranda explained: “I think a lot of Taylor’s frustrations were with me not being totally authentic and truthful… I was just like, ‘Well, everyone wasn’t hooking up with everyone,’ and I just left it at that. I get why that would feel unfair to her. I think there was a lot of fear, guilt, and shame that played a role in that for me—things I needed to address in my personal life, between my marriage, my religion, all of that.”
She added that the two of them had deep convos off-camera and ultimately came to some sort of resolution: “I can’t speak for her, but I feel like me finally addressing that—and her addressing the hurt aside from the swinging thing—was probably very validating for us both.”
Miranda McWhorter went from OG MomTok queen to public enemy to comeback queen—all in the span of a few chaotic years. And now she’s back, Diet Coke in hand, and ready to reclaim the narrative. Season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives just got a whole lot juicier.
