Emira D’Spain Is Making Bravo History In 'Next Gen: NYC'

A new generation is about to take over Bravo. After years of Housewife dominance on the network, in all their middle-aged glory, there’s a new series that places Gen Z front and center. Next Gen: NYC is a new Bravo series that follows a typical friend group in New York, only this friend group is made up of a bunch of the kids from the Housewives franchise. What, you mean you’re not casually in a group chat with Gia Giudice?

The Next Gen: NYC cast is made up of heirs to the Housewives empire like New Jersey star Teresa Giudice’s daugther Gia, as well as Atlanta star Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s daughter Ariana Biermann and fellow Atlantan Kandi Burruss’ daughter Riley Burruss. Salt Lake City star Meredith Marks’ son Brooks Marks is also part of the cast.

But it’s not all Housewife descendants. Next Gen: NYC  also features some cast members who didn’t grow up with a production crew around their houses.

One of those non-Bravolebrity children is Emira D’Spain, who’s got “hustle in her DNA.” Since Emira didn’t grow up in front of the cameras like some of her Next Gen: NYC cast mates, she’s a bit more of an enigma. At the end of the series trailer, Emira tells the camera, “I love being messy,” which, same. But what else is there to know about this messy queen? Read on to learn more about Next Gen: NYC star Emira D’Spain.

Emira D’Spain is a 29-year-old model, influencer, and former beauty director. She was born in Dubai but raised in Dallas, and then attended New York University. After she graduated, she moved up the ranks at PAPER Magazine from intern to beauty director. Like I said, Emira knows how to hustle.

In addition to her firm as the beauty director at PAPER, she’s worked as a model and she made history as Victoria Secret’s first Black transgender model in 2022. Now, with Next Gen: NYC, she’s going to be Bravo’s first transgender full-time cast member on any show. It’s about damn time!

“Part of me goes back and forth – where I feel like I’m not doing enough for my community and then sometimes when I feel like my transness plays too big of a role on my platforms,” Emira told Galore Mag in 2022. “I never want my page to solely be about being trans because it’s just one part of my life. That being said, I still want to lift my community up and champion them always.”

In that same Galore Mag feature, Emira was called “TikTok’s It-Girl,” which is a pretty appropriate title. With over 1.3 million followers and 39.6 million likes, Emira’s TikTok is definitely worth checking out. Whether on TikTok or TV, you’re probably going to be seeing a lot more of her soon.
