The White Lotus (Thailand version) may be over now, but show creator Mike White is still spilling season 3 tea! Even though this season was longer than both previous seasons, there were a few juicy scenes that didn’t make the final cut. Apparently, there was supposed to be a steamy Piper and Zion moment, and we were gonna actually learn about what was happening with Laurie’s kid, too. We were robbed! I’m gonna need the version with those scenes right away. Here’s everything to know about The White Lotus season 3 deleted scenes, including Piper and Zion’s sex scene and details about Laurie’s kid.
The White Lotus Season 3 Deleted Scenes: Piper And Zion Have Sex, Laurie’s Backstory
The White Lotus Season 3 Piper And Zion Deleted Sex Scene
Okay, I was annoyed that we found out Piper’s a virgin and then the show just never returned to that. (For a minute there, I was wondering if she was gonna fuck a brother.) After giving up on the Buddhist monastery of it all, Piper was originally going to to have sex with Zion. During an April 6 appearance on The White Lotus podcast, Mike said he was “very disappointed” when that part was cut from the finale. “She decides to lose her virginity in the script in the last episode,” he shared. “She actually has sex with Zion. There’s this whole scene where she’s like, ‘It’s true. Saxon is right about this one thing. I need to get this over with.’ And after she leaves the monastery she’s just like, ‘I need to have sex.’”
But alas, the episode was already movie length and that would’ve added 10 more minutes. Plus, “It had a little bit of a romantic rom-com vibe in the middle of trying to kill the family with the pong pong fruits,” Mike noted. The way I would’ve had zero qualms with a two-hour finale or a rom-com moment.
The White Lotus Season 3 Laurie’s Deleted Backstory
We know that Laurie’s divorced and has a struggling child, but we never get any more details than that. While speaking with Harper’s Bazaar in March, Carrie Coon revealed that there was “more context to her home life” that was cut from the season. “You originally found out that her daughter was actually non-binary, maybe trans, and going by they/them,” the actress explained. “You see Laurie struggling to explain it to her friends, struggling to use they/them pronouns, struggling with the language, which was all interesting.” I’m sure MAGA Blondie’s reaction would have been very interesting.
Ultimately, Mike decided that the topic was too much to tackle this season — especially as the T*ump administration “weaponizes the culture war against transgender people” more and more. Carrie added, “Mike felt that the scene was so small and the topic so big that it wasn’t the right way to engage in that conversation.” Damn. I understand that reasoning, but I would’ve loved to see this conversation.
