Bill Belichick's GF Jordon Hudson Withdraws From Cheerleading Team, Citing "Identity Erasure"

73-year-old Bill Belichick and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson were already a touchy subject. (The former NFL coach and the Miss Maine USA contestant have been dating since early 2023, and they’ve received plenty of backlash due to the five-decade age gap of it all.) But things have been getting weirder and weirder… On April 27, Bill was a guest on CBS Sunday Morning to promote his upcoming book, The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football. It’s giving “the epic highs and lows of football,” but I digress.

During the interview, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill head football coach seemed to struggle with answering the questions, and Jordon was sitting just outside the main frame, watching him speak. When Bill was asked about their relationship, she interjected with an awkward comment and tried to shut down the convo.

A few weeks later, on May 9, Jordon reportedly got banned from the UNC football facility, Bill’s place of work. On May 11, the 24-year-old came in third place during the finals of the 2025 Miss Maine USA pageant. And now, she’s making a surprising career move, per her emotional letter about “identity erasure.” So, is everything good with the football coach and his Gen Z GF? Let’s break down this viral Bill Belicheck and Jordon Hudson CBS interview and everything that followed.

Why Did Jordon Hudson Quit Cheerleading?

In Jordon’s note, obtained by The Washington Post, she withdrew from her cheer team, BlackOut, in December 2024. She apologized to them for “interlopers at practice, the subsequent media exploitation [and] the lack of dependability.” She thanked them for giving her a “sense of grounding” during this tough period. And cited her “inability to prioritize BlackOut” due to “scheduling conflicts” as her reason for leaving the squad.

“During this time, I have faced a slow, exterior erasure of my strong, individual identity,” Jordon shared in her candid letter, crediting her teammates for keeping her “intact.”

Why Did Jordon Hudson Get Banned From UNC Football Facilities?

It sounds like Jordon isn’t having the most positive impact on Bill’s career. On May 9, Bleacher Report reported that the University of North Carolina has banned Jordon Hudson from its football facility. Although she doesn’t have a “formal role” at UNC, according to The Athletic, she’s been allegedly getting involved, helping strategize how to frame the hiring of Bill’s son, Steve, as defensive coordinator.

A source close to Bill revealed to Meadowlark Media’s Pablo Torre: “There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation.” TMZ Sports also reported that UNC officials “are now concerned about Hudson’s influence on Belichick’s tenure as the head football coach.” Oof. I wonder how much longer this relationship’s gonna last…

Is Bill Belicheck Okay?

Bill was wearing a very ripped, worn sweatshirt for the CBS Sunday Morning, and he seemed to have trouble responding to several questions. Dave Portnoy and Piers Morgan were among those who commented about the former NFL coach’s weird interview moments. “They had the most awkward Bill Belichick interview I’ve ever seen,” Dave wrote alongside a clip of the interview. “Like I was squirming in my seat.” Piers went so far as to call the interview “utterly excruciating.” He added, “Mr Belichick needs a family or friend intervention asap.”

When journalist Tony Dokoupil asked about their relationship (more specifically, the public’s interest in their relationship), Bill seemed to get a little uncomfortable. “I’ve never been too worried about what everyone else thinks,” he claimed, adding that he tries to just “do what I feel like is best for me, and what’s right.” Then, the interview really took a turn when Tony asked how they met, a seemingly innocent question.

“We’re not talking about this,” Jordon abruptly intervened. “No?” Tony asked, and the former cheerleader replied with a firm, “No.” In a voice over included in the segment, Tony stated the obvious for us: “It’s a topic neither one of them is comfortable commenting on.” I wonder why that is… Perhaps they met on a sketch app or website, but I’m just throwing out uninformed theories here. Tony notably described Jordon as a “constant presence” during the interview.

After this clip caught the attention of basically the whole internet, Jordan defended herself by reposting supportive comments on X. One comment she reposted read, “I see a woman who cares about her man and doesn’t want him to be screwed around by the media.” A generous take, but alrighty. She also shared a comment arguing that the conversation was supposed to center Bill’s book and his dad working for the Naval Academy football team. “They were wearing Navy for this reason,” that person wrote in defense of Jordon.

Jordon also evidently agree with someone who suggested, “Or maybe she didn’t want her or their personal relationship to be part of the interview instead on football… I think if they don’t want to talk about [it] they shouldn’t.” Bill has yet to respond to the online criticism about the interview.

Bill Belichick And Jordon Hudson Respond To Interview Backlash: Statement

On April 29, Jordon shared a screenshot of Bill’s email about the interview (and general book promotion) to her and his team. “I don’t think this is fantastic, but it will probably hype the book, which is clearly the ongoing theme here” he wrote. “This is about what I expected from the media.”

Bill added that interviews and podcasts that will “supposedly drive the sales” are going to “focus on whatever negatives they can extract from the book, and all the current events that don’t have anything to do with the book, but are most relevant to their ‘ratings’ and agenda.” He’s really pissed off that his quote, “I fucked up,” is becoming the “catchphrase” for the book, which is supposed to be about his successful career in football and not just his mistakes. Bill concluded the lengthy message, “I hope we can get on the same page in promoting the book authentically.”
