Timothée Chalamet is about to be a musical guest on SNL for the first time, and those of us who are familiar with his musical lore understand that this is a big. Fucking. Deal. Yes, I’m aware that this is happening because of his Oscar-nominated portrayal of Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown (Club Chalamet is still on cloud nine after that nom announcement). However, I’m personally far more invested in Timmy’s other musical persona: ‘Lil Timmy Tim. Long before he was a beloved movie star, Timmy was a shining star in the New York City teenage white boy rap scene. With smash hits like “Statistics,” he was destined for rap greatness but chose the acting route for some reason.
In preparation for the actor’s musical guest appearance on SNL, I ranked Timothée Chalamet’s best ‘Lil Timmy Tim rap performances. You’re welcome.
The Best Timothée Chalamet Rapping Videos, Ranked
5. The Hell’s Kitchen Rap
When “Jakey-Jake” ~hit him with that beat~, ‘Lil Timmy Tim was ready to go. He cleared his throat and spat some historic bars, declaring, “Timmy Tim, the next Slim Shady!” Where’s the lie?
4. “Follow Me Like Thee Wizard Of O-Z”
15-year-old Timmy thought he ate that BECAUSE HE DID. He didn’t leave a fraction of a crumb. Are you fucking kidding me with this choreo?? This was clearly the audition tape for Wonka. And the Hannah Montana and Justin Bieber references? A cultured Zillennial king.
3. The “Roman’s Revenge” Cover
“Original barb, day one” – Timothée in a December 2024 interview. And he was being deadass. No one’s ever channeled Nikki Minaj quite like ‘Lil Timmy Tim did back in the day when he grabbed a pink wig and gagged an auditorium of teens with his cover of “Roman’s Revenge.” He became Manning Eli there for a sec, I think. And the extremely abrupt transition into LMFAO’s 2011 classic, “Party Rock Anthem,”… no notes.
2. “Yeet Yeet Skirt Skirt”
‘Lil Timmy Tim made a surprise reappearance in 2020 that changed all of our lives forever. The infamous “yeet yeet skirt skirt” Timmy and Pete Davidson duet really was the one bright spot of that godforsaken year, and it still randomly pops into my head all the time. Timmy may be a serious Hollywood star and a two-time Oscar nominee now (slay), but this video proved that he’ll always be ‘Lil Timmy Tim at his core <3.
1. “Statistics”
Although it is almost impossible to choose a No.1 ‘Lil Timmy Tim hit out of so many priceless gems, I do believe “Statistics” is the rapper’s magnum opus. His little dancey-dance to “statistics, statistics, statistics, statistics” was simply too genius for his math teacher to handle. (She gave him a D because there is literally no math content in this rap.) But I would give this project an A++ and a Grammy nom.
