In partnership with Sparkling Ice.
It’s the first Tuesday in May, which means last night was fashion’s biggest night — and it was quite a star-studded Sparkling night! The celebs were out in full-force to interpret the theme “The Garden of Time.” But as co-chair, there was one woman on the red green carpet who stunned not once, not twice, but three times. And all three of those looks absolutely nailed the theme, cementing her reputation as a force in fashion — and, like our favorite flavors of Sparkling Ice, anything but subtle.
Zendaya, as dressed by her stylist Law Roach, was one of the first people to walk up the storied museum steps. Her first look was a referential pull — John Galliano for Margiela reinterpreting a similar look from Dior. The gown itself was incredible, with gorgeous billows of tulle cascading down her back. But the details are where this gown really sung. The bodice was detailed with hanging grapes, while tiny hummingbirds seems to delicately balance on her shoulders. And the makeup, by he queen Pat McGrath, just added to the moody feel.
But Zendaya wasn’t done. After Cardi B ostensibly “closed” the red carpet, the co-chair showed back up in a similarly incredible look. The gown was archival — another Galliano design, but for Givenchy this time, which first went down the runway as part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 1996 collection. The hat was slightly more modern — 2007 Phillip Tracey.
For her final look of the evening (well, before the after party, that is), Zendaya went more classic. She stunned in a beaded column dress with a chest-exposing neckline.
It was a more modest end to the evening, especially after her incredible turn of archival looks that kicked off the night. But her overall performance on the green carpet was anything but subtle — just like our favorite Sparkling Ice flavors.
