Emily Henry, girlies, assemble! We have new and important updates about the movie adaptation of People We Meet On Vacation. For those of you who were obsessed with the 2021 friends-to-lovers novel, it’s officially time to start counting down the days. (And if you haven’t read it yet… girl, do you live under a rock? Go fix that immediately.)

The upcoming Netflix movie is bringing Poppy and Alex’s story to life with a stellar cast, and yes, it’s staying true to the genius on the page. Thank goodness. The best part? People We Meet on Vacation is actually just the first of Emily’s five books to get the screen treatment, so there’s plenty more to look forward to. (Suddenly, I have a will to live.) For now, though, I’m just hyperfixating on PWMOV, and you should be too: Here’s everything to know about the movie adaptation of People We Meet On Vacation, including the release date, cast, and plot. Plus, we got the first teaser!

You’re probably already aware that Emily Bader (My Lady Jane, Paranormal Activity) will star as Poppy, and my Hunger Games king, Tom Blyth, will star as Alex. It’s a match made in heaven, TBH. “I watched their chemistry read four times in 12 hours and I loved it more every single time,” the PWMOV author, Emily Henry, told Netflix. “The very first time I was laughing out loud, and I got so emotional by the end.”

People We Meet On Vacation Trailer

On July 1, we finally got the first teaser for the movie. Okay, the clip itself is just a beach, but we can hear Emily and Tom’s voices. “Where does Alex Nilsen stand on travel?” Emily, as Poppy says. “Love or hate?” Tom, as Alex replies, “I mean, I’ve never really traveled anywhere. But this morning I saw this beautiful sunrise over this place that I’d never been before, and I wouldn’t have if everything had gone according to plan. So love. I’m thinking love.” Yayyy, I’m hype.

People We Meet On Vacation Plot

People We Meet on Vacation is about besties Alex and Poppy, who always take a summer vacation together… until they stop speaking. When Poppy reaches out and asks Alex to take one more vacation with her, things get complicated and romantic, of course.

The official Netflix longline reads: “Free-spirited Poppy and routine-loving Alex have been unlikely best friends for a decade, living in different cities but spending every summer vacation together. The careful balance of their friendship is put to the test when they begin to question what has been obvious to everyone else: could they actually be the perfect romantic match?”
