I know it’s not just me who’s sick of seeing our hot-ass moms walk down the aisle on our special day wearing something that’s full coverage and has enough sequins to give you a rash just looking at it. Sure, having been a bride myself I know that the day is all about us, but it’s also all about them…right?! I wanted my mom to look and feel her very best on my wedding day and not feel like she has to succumb to the frump-city world of the classic mother of the bride dresses. And honestly, same goes for mother of the groom! She deserves to be hot, too!
Also, this might be a spicy take, but I don’t feel like either the MOB or MOG has to wear the same shade as the bridal party. Let’s give them a print that fits their personality or even a little, dare I say….color!? (The horror!!!!). I know traditionally we would all go to a department store for a formal dress, but so many brands (i.e. Anthropologie, Reformation, Sézane) have some killer dresses that scream chic that you should consider adding into the shopping rotation.
So if you and your mom have been scratching your head about MOB lewks, look no further. Here are some clear winners to consider for the big day.

Let’s quit it with this “it has to be navy or black” BS — bring on the color!
It’s okay if your mom’s dress doesn’t match the bridal party’s…we want her to stand out, don’t we?! So, go for a seasonal appropriate color that really compliments her. The brighter the better, IMO.
I know I just dissed black and navy, but they’re also v classic (sorry, not sorry)
I personally love adding a little color but navy and black are obviously classic for a reason. There are so many chic options that play with texture, structure, and embellishments that these are *actually* worthy of your mom.
Go bold or go home
We love a good print. TBH, it can help match a personality or bring a little whimsy to an otherwise formal affair — don’t be afraid of mixing things up.
Don’t be afraid to show some skin!!!!
Forget covering everything up —I love a strapless or one-shoulder dress for the MOB/MOG. It’s a great way to show off some skin while still being 100% age-appropriate.
Covering up is also not a sin
Sometimes we just feel better when we’re a little more covered up — it’s not about hiding but rather accentuating what makes you feel best. These options are so fashion-forward while still feeling balanced with coverage.
