In some surprising Monday news, Mindy Kaling shared she had her third baby earlier this year in February 2024 with the world, which the general public was not aware of being on the way. Honestly, at this point, I’d be more surprised if we did know when Mindy was pregnant considering she’s kept everything surrounding her kids extremely private since her first child Katherine “Kit” Kaling was born in 2017. A celeb of her caliber keeping a secret pregnancy under wraps not once but three times is no easy feat. Yet posting strategic photos leaving out her kids’ faces hasn’t quite stopped fans of The Mindy Project star from wondering who is Mindy Kaling’s baby daddy? Here’s everything we know.
The answer to that question is still a mystery. Back in 2022, Mindy did address the major rumor that her collaborator and friend B.J. Novak was the father of her children head-on. Low-key understandably, people have trouble separating Kelly and Ryan’s toxic struggle love on The Office from Mindy and B.J.’s actual real life. Mindy told Marie Claire that the rumors didn’t bother her because B.J. is her kids’ godfather and is very close to them, but stopped short of giving any credence to the idea he was their father-father. In the same article, she advised young women to pursue their careers knowing there are options out there to make having a family on your own timeline possible, like freezing your eggs. Is it possible Mindy used a sperm donor to fertilize her own frozen eggs for all three of her children? Deffo, but it’ll be up to her to share those personal details if and when she sees fit.
On June 24, 2024, Mindy announced she welcomed her third child Anne to the world back in February of the same year. Under a cute picture of baby Anne vibing with her siblings Kit and Spencer, Kaling wrote “In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne. She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined. When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!” Mindy just celebrated her 45th birthday while The Mindy Project is coming up on it’s 12th anniversary.
