Directioners all over the world are in mourning today. On October 16, Liam Payne tragically died in Argentina after falling multiple stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. He was 31. The former 1D singer attended Niall Horan’s October 2 show there and had also been spending quality time with his girlfriend of two years, Kate Cassidy. Kate is a content creator, and she enjoys posting vlogs, cooking videos, and outfit of the day/night videos. She would often feature Liam in her videos and they’d show off their outfits and do dances together. Kate has more than 350,000 followers on Instagram and more than 400,000 on TikTok. She’s currently living in Miami, Florida.
Kate and Liam have been linked since 2022 and they made their red carpet debut in December that year at the British Fashion Awards in London. In a November 2023 TikTok, Kate revealed that she had “manifested” dating the former One Direction singer when she was 10 years old by drawing a picture of Liam on a popsicle stick. “And somehow 10 years later,” she says in the video before showing Liam chilling on her bed. She joked, “Be careful what you wish for!” as he laughed.
Kate is 25. On March 30, she posted a photo of herself holding a white birthday cake topped with cherries and wrote, “happy to be 25.”

On October 14, Kate shared that she was flying back to Miami, but Liam had stayed in Argentina. She explained that she and the singer were only supposed to be in Argentina for five days, but they wound up staying there two weeks, and she was just “so ready to leave.”
“Honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long,” Kate shared in a TikTok documenting her journey home. She showed that her seat on the plane was 1D and said, “I feel like this happens every single time I fly.” Liam died two days after Kate arrived home. She has not yet publicly responded to the devastating news.
