On October 17, 2024, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson released a joint statement as One Direction expressing their deep regrets for Liam Payne’s passing. The band acknowledged the shocking nature of the unexpected news, stating “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.” The touching memoriam continued by expressing how the remaining members “will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.” Harry, Zayn, Niall, and Louis’ “thoughts are with [Liam’s] family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.”
