For those of us who are fully immersed in the highly addictive world of Building the Band, 3Quency, SZN4, and Soulidified are already top-tier pop royalty. Love is Blind may not work for love, but apparently, that connecting-via-booths format is useful for something after all! I’m actually blown away by the talent and the chemistry in the groups that came out of this new Netflix show, and I can’t wait to follow their careers and buy tickets to their shows. (OG Souldier right here, just saying.) As a gal who grew up in the golden age of 1D, 5SOS, and Fifth Harmony, I desperately need pop groups to make a comeback. After all, we can’t let the youth of today grow up with no stan communities, no chaotic interviews, and no unhinged Wattpad tales. That’d just be irresponsible.
It’s a crime how fast season 1 of Building the Band went by, and I’m already craving more band drama, intense rehearsal footage, and award show-level performances. Plus, I genuinely believe this show has the power to bring bands back into the cultural spotlight. So, the urgent question is: Will there be a season 2 of Building the Band? Here’s what we know so far.
Will There Be A Season 2 Of Building The Band?
Building The Band Season 2 Release Date

Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to confirm a season 2 of the new music competition show. That being said, Building the Band has been in Netflix’s Top 10 for a while, and that gives me hope. I’m also seeing a lot of people sharing their strong opinions about the bands on TikTok, so it seems like people are invested.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Backstreet Boy and Building the Band host AJ McLean seemed optimistic about the possibility of another season. “Knock on wood, Season 2,” he said, adding, “I was talking to my line producer last month and I’m like, ‘God willing we do a Season 2, how the hell do we top ourselves?’ There’s so much talent out there.” True… I really don’t know if it’s possible to top this season talent-wise, but we’ll see.
Obviously, no renewal means no release date, but season 1 premiered about a year after filming. If they do renew the show and follow the same timeline, it looks like we have over a year to wait. Sigh.
Building The Band Season 2 Judges

For the first season of the show, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger served as the primary mentor and judge. The iconic Kelly Rowland and the late, beloved Liam Payne joined her as judges and fellow mentors when the live shows began.
The One Direction star tragically died in October 2024 after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. He’d finished filming Building the Band just a few weeks prior. Although it’s sad to watch and be reminded that he’s gone, I think the show is a beautiful tribute to Liam, and his passion for mentoring young musicians is evident.
If we do get another season, I really hope Kelly returns because she was an amazing judge. Perhaps another 1D member or a 5SOS member will join? Stay tuned for updates.
