Though he’s been the c0-host of the wildly popular podcast Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers since 2016, many people were introduced to comedian and actor Bowen Yang through his member as a performing cast member on SNL in 2019. The Saturday Night Live writer (who joined the staff in 2018) will be becoming even more of a household name when he debuts on the big screen in the upcoming Wicked movie as Glinda’s friend Pfannee. Other than occasionally joking about a fling here or there (like with that businessman from China) on his podcast, which has published over 500 episodes, Bowen has kept his dating life pretty private over the years. Still, some fans are curious if the star is single and who he has dated. Here’s a look at the latest on Bowen Yang’s dating history.
Bowen Yang’s Dating History
Bowen’s 2022 Relationship
On a September episode of the podcast Couple’s Therapy, Bowen opened up about a relationship from the summer of 2022. He had met a guy from an app who he hung out with on Fire Island; the guy posted a selfie of himself and Bowen there with the caption “magic is real.” They connected over video games, anime, and Glee. A week later, Bowen reposted a cozy pic with this man from a date they went on that, in hindsight, Bowen realized he was pressured into going on in the first place. Bowen started getting weary of the relationship when he realized the guy was moving at a “crazy clip” to become “life partners,” and he wasn’t ready. He also as a private person wasn’t used to posting so many pictures early on into a relationship. He officially called it off after New York Pride, which happens in June, when the intense “love bombing” behavior continued through another trip to Fire Island. Bowen eventually called off the relationship by explaining he wasn’t emotionally open enough to be seriously dating and he hadn’t felt heard enough to continue figuring the situation out.
Is Bowen Yang Single?
According to a June 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Bowen is single, and like many celebrities giving the dating app Raya a try. Though Bowen downloaded the infamous Raya app, he joked it was something he “engaged with minimally.” On couples therapy Bowen referred to himself as “perpetually single,” despite the history matchmaking going on backstage at Saturday Night Live for other cast and crew such as Pete Davidson and Lindsay Shookus.
