Betch of the Year 2024

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-01

WINNER: Reesa Teesa

Millions of us devoted a full day to watching her 50-part TikTok series detailing her alleged relationship with a “pathological liar” — and just putting up with that man is award–worthy. This woman gave us her heart, soul, and unflinching vulnerability, earning her this year’s Betch of the Year title.

What the Betches are saying:

“Reesa Teesa, the woman, NAY, the herstorian, that you are. I’m still not sure we ever got the answer to who TF you married, but it simply does not matter. You deserve this win more than anyone (even though it isn’t the same as a midnight blue BMW X5 with cognac interior). Toasting you with a hangover-inducing glass of Stella Rosa as I type, betch!” – Marissa Dow, Betches Trending News Writer

NOMINEES:

Charli XCX

Ilona Maher

Jools Lebron

Viral Sound

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-03

WINNER: “Spectacular gimme 14 of ’em right now”

While any Boomer going viral on TikTok is a win in and of itself, Big Al and Vicky went above and beyond by making us feel things. Their sound is so wholesome, it grabbed the internet’s attention and gave us all those warm and fuzzies.

What the Betches are saying:
“This one line perfectly captures exactly how it feels to love something so instantly, so deeply, it makes you a fan girl. It’s a universal experience, a carnal desire to have more of whatever it may be, from episodes of a TV show to a seasonal coffee order.”Izzy Snow, Betches Content Manager

NOMINEES:

“I feel like you’re just here for the zipline”

“Orange drink, if you know you know”

“In the clerb, we all fam”

“Do you know you have 30 minutes?”

Meme of the Year

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-02

WINNER: Glasgow Willy Wonka

The discourse around the disastrous Willy Wonka “chocolate experience” in Glasgow was by far this year’s best. The image of struggling actor Kirsty Paterson in her electric green bob and bootleg chemistry set could’ve held her back… but instead, it’s earned her meme of the year. Success comes in all different forms.

What the Betches are saying:

“In life, things don’t always go as planned. When Kirsty booked this gig, she had no idea she’d soon become the face of an event that some have called ‘the Fyre Festival of immersive children’s entertainment.’ For 48 brief hours online, we were all the Scottish Oompa Loompa. We salute her.” – Dylan Hafer, Betches Director, Entertainment Content

NOMINEES

Raygun

Four Seasons Orlando Baby

MJ Javid on Traitors

Heather Gay on RHOSLC

Song of the Year

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-04

WINNER: “Looking For a Man in Finance” – Girl on Couch

Megan Boni (aka Girl on Couch) had everyone and their mothers looking for a man in finance, 6”5, blue eyes. If it wasn’t for Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, or Chappell Roan, this would’ve been the Billboard Top 100 song of the year. But at least she has us!

What the Betches are saying:

“From getting offered record deals to being remixed by the king of dance music, David Guetta, this viral song is something we still can’t get out of our heads. While some of us might want to forget the tall blue-eyed finance man we met this summer, Megan Boni and this sound bite will be remembered forever.” – Will Oser, Betches Content Manager

NOMINEES:

“Apple” – Charli XCX

“Coconut Tree (Brat Remix)” – @mxwlch03

“The Spark” – Kabin Crew & Lisdoonvarna Crew

“Nasty” – Tinashe

Reality Star Icon

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-05

WINNER: PPG (Love Island)

When a reality dating show drags on for 30+ episodes a season, the least you expect is someone to find love. But what you don’t expect? Falling head over heels for three iconic besties who end up stealing the whole damn show. We love you, Serena, Leah, and JaNa.

What the Betches are saying:

“These queens absolutely dominated Season 6. Not only did they bag the hottest guys in the villa (who somehow turned out to be actual dream boyfriends), but they also formed a friendship so legendary, we’re all ready to send in our BFF applications. They could do literally anything — eat chips, walk in slow motion, fight over laundry — and I’d still stan.” – Syeda Khaula Saad, Betches Sex & Dating Writer

NOMINEES:

Whitney from Mormon Wives

Reality Von Tease

Ann on VPR

Quote of the Year

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-07

WINNER: “What tour?” – cop who pulled over JT

We never thought that Justin Timberlake getting pulled over would leave such a permanent stain on the year. However, we’re thrilled to give the 24-year-old cop who questioned him, and delivered this earth-shattering line, his flowers.

What the Betches are saying:

“Ahh, nothing hits quite like a celebrity mugshot! We could have crowned Justin Timberlake the winner for his “This is going to ruin the tour” quote, but that didn’t feel as right as giving it to the unnamed officer who destroyed his ego (and reputation). My hero!” – Katie Corvino, Betches Vice President of Editorial

NOMINEES:

“Is it Ruth Bader Ginsberg?” – Joey G

“oh lord sweet bb jesus, not Ekin-Su”  – Phaedra Parks

“I wanna start a new genre of music called gay pop” -JoJo Siwa

“D is fire” – Gypsy Rose Blanchard

Feud of the Year

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-08

WINNER: Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

If we could take this level of international gossip and inject it into our veins all year round, we would. The It Ends With Us press tour spiraled into something beyond our wildest dreams and gave us hours worth of content worthy of this title.

What the Betches are saying:

“From analyzing every cast member’s body language when Justin’s name was mentioned to raking through Blake’s tone-deaf interviews with a fine-toothed comb, this drama brought the nation together. A kinship that literally got me through the month of August. The only downside is I still have a hard time looking at flowers.” – Steph Perlman, Betches Entertainment Editor

NOMINEES:

Drake and Kendrick

Chappell Roan vs Paps

US Gymnastics Team vs MyKayla Skinner

Nicki Minaj vs Megan Thee Stallion

Baby Girl of the Year

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-09

WINNER: Jack Schlossberg

Certified silly goose Jack Schlossberg charmed us online this year by championing political activism and dropping one-liners that made us wonder, “Is this man a meme or a national treasure?” A Harvard grad and Kennedy family royalty, yet he somehow remains the most relatable person on the internet.

What the Betches are saying:

“Jack’s social media isn’t just a feed — it’s an experience. His videos have kept us entertained and informed all year long, as he tackled politics with passion and humor, all while still managing to be the hottest guy in the room. And though I haven’t met him yet (we’re working on that), if he’s still single, there’s still a chance for me to be Mrs. Baby Girl of the Year.” – Eleni Sabracos, Content Manager

NOMINEES:

Jonathan Bailey

Andrew Garfield

Marcello Hernandez

Stephen Nedoroscik

Wait, That Happened This Year?

BOTY-2024-SOCIAL-FEED-WINNERS-10

WINNER: Mob Wives Aesthetic

In early 2024, clean girl aesthetic was officially out and the mob wife era was in. For once this country reached a consensus and said SCREW YOU to slicked back buns and bland AF color palettes – hallelujah.

“I never felt more alive than when I started embracing cheetah print as a true neutral, like god intended (and by god, I mean Carmela Soprano). I can’t think of another trend more deserving of the ‘What, That Happened This Year?’ award. Mostly because I can’t believe I blew my credit card points on so much faux fur.” – Melanie White, Betches Lifestyle Editor
