On December 21, 2024, news broke that Blake (the female lead of the Colleen Hoover movie adaptation about domestic violence) had filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department. The allegations include conditions of sexual harassment on set and retaliation against Blake during the movie’s international press tour meant to “bury” her, all allegedly incited by Justin Baldoni and his producing partner Jamey Heath. The legal action, which is one step short of a lawsuit, has brought the public’s attention to serious unethical working conditions as claimed by Blake, and some of her famous colleagues have already spoken out in support of the actress. After Blake’s case was explored in a New York Times investigative piece, author Colleen Hoover (who wrote the book It Ends With Us) quickly jumped on social media to announce her support for the star. Colleen wrote that Blake has been “nothing but honest, kind, supportive, and patient” over a picture of the pair hugging. She ended the note by thanking Blake for being “exactly the human” she is and encouraging Blake to “never wilt,” along with a link to the NYT piece.

America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and Amber Tamblyn shared an Instagram post “in support of [their] sister Blake.” Blake’s former co-stars and friends “stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation.” They are “appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice” after filming It Ends With Us.
