Every year, celebrities use their stylists, makeup artists, and unlimited funds to pop off in exquisite costumes, and every year, I feel jealous and inadequate. (Personally, I’m going as B-Girl x Ph.D Raygun and drilling the kangaroo, the sprinkler, and an Australian accent to take my $25 Amazon costume to the next level.) This year, the stars served memes, human-sized weight loss drugs, beloved movie characters, and pop icons. My jaw was actually on the floor when I saw Troye Sivan, Selena Gomez and Jake Shane’s looks… Here are all the best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2024.
I’m furious at myself for not thinking of this. Celeb costume of the year officially goes to my “Rush” king. This famous pap photo of Addison reading Britney Spears’ memoir changed the culture for the better and Troye gets it.
Tasteful, cutesy, squarely in the zeitgeist… I would expect nothing less from Olivia, honestly. She 100 percent has Elphaba energy and I am patiently waiting on the “Defying Gravity” cover to drop. Olivia and Iris got Ariana Grande’s approval! She commented, “You are both perfect” and added bubble and broomstick emojis.
An instant classic. Sabrina channeling Hillary Duff in The Lizzie McGuire Movie is everything, and it’s especially iconic because she’s been seeking out this igloo dress for literally six years. In 2018, she tweeted a photo of Hillary in the dress and wrote, “anyone sellin this on etsy,” adding, “ya girl needs a halloween costume.” Chef’s kiss.
This year’s Best Celeb Couples Costume award goes to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. The Only Murders in the Building queen and the producer are certainly not beating the flawless It Girl and ~quirky~ BF allegations after sharing these pics of their Alice in Wonderland-inspired costumes. Selena looks so cute in her Alice dress and blonde wig, and Benny looks… fucking terrifying as Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter.
This is the dedication to Halloween we need to see from more celebrities. Janelle got herself a custom E.T. costume, completely transformed into the character, and did a whole ass photoshoot and short film in the suit. As the kids say, what’s four plus four?
I find most of Ed’s music underwhelming, but I have to give him credit for slaying Halloween with this hilarious internet costume. Ed dressed as the viral AI meme of himself wearing a monkey costume, holding an iPhone, and smiling whilst on top of a table in an Apple Store. “Haters will say it’s AI,” he joked in his caption.
Jenna Rink and 13 Going on 30 dress, you will both always be famous. Jennifer celebrated 20 years of the beloved 2004 film by slipping on the famous dress for Halloween.
I just know Andrew Garfield has never been more in love. Honestly speechless at this one. The CEO of chicken is possibly my favorite public figure ever.
Oh, I miss Scandal so much it hurts. Kerry would dress up as Tashi in the “I TOLD YA” shirt with Tony and Scott by her side as Art and Patrick, respectively. Is this PhotoShopped? Yes, but I don’t give a fuck. I love it.
No, because Jake Shane in full Chappell Roan drag plus Sabrina Carpenter (Benito Skinner’s Version) and Charli XCX’s bestie x photographer, Terrence O’Connor, dressed as the head brat is everything to me. This pop supernova trio costume is art.
Joke’s on South Park now because Lizzo got the last laugh by dressing up as the fictional weight loss drug “Lizzo” — the one featured in The End of Obesity episode. The singer also seems to be poking fun at fans’ allegations that she recently used Ozempic to lose weight. A little advice for the haters: Give this iconic post a “like” and for the love of god, shut the fuck up about women’s weight.
Anne also celebrated Halloween a little early this year, dressing up as a creepy version of the Statue of Liberty with white face paint, black circles around her eyes, and a “Boo York City” T-shirt. A feminist icon with a scary flair? We love to see it.

The queen of the Bronx is famously a Y2K baby (Y2K! is literally the name of her debut album), but this Halloween, she emulated Leeloo, Milla Jovovich’s character in the 1997 sci-fi movie, The Fifth Element. This orange-haired humanoid costume was kind of made for her. Points for originality!! I have not seen any other Leeloos yet.
If I looked like Sophie Turner, I too would fully embrace sexy Halloween and slay as Trixie from The Matrix in this plunging latex catsuit and retro sunglasses.
