If you missed the 2025 VMAs, here’s a quick recap: Tate McRae gagged us all with the dance break of a century, Sabrina Carpenter performed “Tears” with Drag Race stars and did the already-iconic choreo in the rain, Conan Gray’s high note gagged the entire Grande family, and the show was basically an Ariana Grande meet and greet for Gen Z singers. While there were some epic fashion moments (let’s hear it for Sabrina’s red lace dress and light purple boa!), there were also some interesting fashion moments…. *cough* whatever TF Megan Stalter and Yungblud were wearing.
I went and started my skincare routine as soon as the credits began rolling, but the night didn’t end at 11 p.m. for the celebs. After the award show, many of the A and B-listers headed out to mingle with each other at exclusive VMAs after-parties. And don’t you worry: I judged their fits for the afters, too! Best — Tate McRae
From the insane dance break in the sand (still recovering) to this absolutely fire after-party look, Tate McRae took her pop star duties VERY seriously last night. She’s just that girl, and she knows it! (Guessing a certain Australian rapper was in his feelings.)
Worst — The Kid Laroi
Speaking of the certain Australian rapper… These pants are a size or two too big for him, and I fear the color combo is not giving. And while I applaud self-care, I’m just not sure how I feel about pimple patches at a VMAs after-party.
Best — Olandria Carthen
I’m sick (positive). The bejeweled black mini dress is EVERYTHING. I didn’t think it was possible for the Love Island USA icon to top her award show fit, but I stand corrected. Nic is the luckiest man alive.
Worst — Sombr
Oh dear. The fit is kinda giving grandpa at a wedding (except for the no shirt of it all, which is giving Yungblud on the VMAs red carpet). I’ll forgive him, though, because his performance was incredible.
Best — Rosé
Yessss, I love her in this flattering white dress adorned with chains. I’m declaring this look the perfect combo of cute and cunt.
Worst — Audrey Nuna
Did someone tell her she was going on a skiing trip? Wasn’t it like 70 degrees in New York last night?
Best — FKA Twigs
The hair headphones is the most iconic hairstyle I’ve ever seen in my life, and paired with the cute orange fit and those bazillion-inch gray/green boots? She’s killing it.
Best — Law Roach
The king of fashion himself stepped out for an after-party in leather pants, a sheer black top, and a gorgeous coat complete with padded shoulders. He’s glowing!
