I sincerely hope you’re holding space for the final Wicked: For Good trailer right now because it’s here!! And we only have to wait a few more months for the movie — the second Wicked film will hit theaters on November 21. Until then, I shall be emotionally preparing myself for the darker half of the story.

“Our heart was broken when Glinda can’t make the choice that we want her to so badly at the end of movie one, and it feels empowering for Elphaba to fly away from society,” director Jon Chu told Vanity Fair in an interview about the upcoming film. “In movie two, we see the consequences of those choices. The temperature is up.” I’m locked in. I’m ready. I desperately need the next few months to fly by faster than Elphaba on her broomstick. But while we wait for the second movie, here’s the Wicked: For Good trailer and details about the plot and cast.

Wicked: For Good Trailer

What Is Wicked: For Good About?

(Spoilers ahead!) In the first movie, we saw Elphaba and Glinda have their enemies to besties arc and travel to the Emerald City together. When Elphaba discovers what the Wizard and Morrible are up to, she flees, but Glinda decides to stay. For Good focuses on Elphaba and her new life as the Wicked Witch of the West, while Glinda works for the Wizard. We’ll see a dramatic Elphaba/Glinda/Fiyero love triangle, Nessa’s tragic death, and Elphaba faking her own death and running away with her man.

And no, there won’t be a new cast member who plays Dorothy. In the Broadway show, the Kansas girlie only appears as a silhouette, and it sounds like the movie will take a similar approach. According to Empire, Dorothy will only be seen from behind or afar in the second movie. “I think that’s such a wonderful thing to do, because then everyone gets to keep the Dorothy that they know,” Cynthia Erivo said.

Jon Chu previously told Variety, “There’s a part of me that wants everyone’s Dorothy to be the whatever Dorothy they want. And yet, there is interaction and some crossover. So I’ll leave that up to Part Two.”
