We’re used to seeing her name in the press for the announcement of a new movie or dating rumors with a fellow Hollywood hottie, but now Jennifer Aniston is facing a legal battle due to the actions of an alleged stalker. For two years now, the Los Angeles police and the Defense Attorney’s office say that Jen has been dealing with harassment at the hands of a stalker who escalated his alleged behavior by crashing a vehicle into Jen’s home. So far, it seems that Jennifer has not publicly addressed the criminal case that officially hit California courts in 2025, but the prosecution has said, “Stalking is a crime that can quickly escalate from harassment to dangerous, violent actions, threatening the safety of victims and our communities,” and that the DA’s “office is committed to aggressively prosecuting those who stalk and terrorize others, ensuring they are held accountable.” Here’s the latest update on Jennifer Aniston’s alleged stalker’s criminal case.

Who is Jimmy Wayne Carwyle? Jennifer Aniston’s Alleged Stalker

Jimmy Wayne Carwyle has been accused and charged with stalking, an aggravating circumstance of the threat of great bodily harm, and vandalism felonies following an incident where he allegedly crashed his car into Jennifer Aniston’s home on May 5, as reported by Deadline. He is 48 years old and from Mississippi.

What happened with Jennifer Aniston’s alleged stalker?

According to the prosecution, Jimmy Wayne Carwyle has been allegedly calling, leaving voicemails, messaging on social media, and emailing Jennifer Aniston for two years. This harassment has been going on “Between March 1, 2023, and May 5, 2025,” according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

His accused stalking allegedly grew into a physical altercation in May 2025, where he crashed his Chrysler PT Cruiser into the gates of Jen’s home in Bel Air, after which he was stopped by neighborhood security guards and eventually arrested by the police, as reported in the AP.

Is Jennifer Aniston’s alleged stalker going to trial?

Jimmy Wayne Carwyle’s defense attorney has requested a mental competency evaluation on May 8. The defendant showed up to court in a towel and allegedly showed little signs of comprehension on the date he was supposed to be arraigned. The judge assigned to the case has now suspended all criminal proceedings while the court waits for the evaluation results, according to Deadline.

Jimmy Wayne Carwyle Sentencing For Allegedly Stalking Jennifer Aniston

As of now, the judge told Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, “You are not to have any contact with Jennifer Aniston under any conditions,” as reported by The Associated Press, and ordered him to “stay 100 yards away from her residence,” according to Deadline.

Carwyle could be sentenced to up to three years in prison, a press release from the DA’s office explains.
