After watching the entire season of Overcompensating in one sitting, I can confirm that Holmes, who plays Hailee Marie Matthews, needs an Emmy, stat. (Thank goodness she’s already been submitted for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.) Hailee, Carmen’s chaotic roomie, has earned instant icon status, according to me and her many stans on Twitter. She’s a classic girly pop diva who, at her core, just craves love and acceptance… a relatable queen, an everywoman, if you will. And she happens to have some of the funniest dialogue I’ve heard in years. The girls and gays binging Benito Skinner’s Prime Video masterpiece are resonating with Hailee’s bluntness, her impeccable sense of fashion, and her many unhinged moments.
