My official Summer I Turned Pretty take is that Belly should be single for several years and then end up with Conrad. (That’s the sane, correct take, BTW.) However, I also fully support her having a little fling with a hot guy in Paris whose last name is not Fisher.

If you’re keeping up, you know that toward the end of season 3, Belly spontaneously flies to Paris after calling off the Jeremiah wedding. But shockingly, you do need to give a study abroad program more than three seconds notice if you wanna participate, so that route doesn’t work out for her. Instead of going to class, Belly winds up on a wild air tag goose chase to find her stolen bag and ends up meeting a girl named Gemma and her friends. Among those friends is a gorgeous young gentleman named Benito, played by Mr. Fernando Cattori.

Who Plays Benito In The Summer I Turned Pretty? Introducing Fernando Cattori

Fernando is a 29-year-old filmmaker, photographer, and actor. Per his website, he grew up in Cancun “amongst toucans, exotic fishes, teenage pregnancy and a Costco” and has been making videos since age 9.

His resume is pretty impressive. Before The Summer I Turned Pretty, Fernando appeared in Untamed Royals and With You in the Future, and he’s also directed music videos for Rubio, Elsa y Elmar, Porter, Vera Pedro, Los Retros, and Sofía Campos.

In August, Fernando shared the teaser for the last few episodes of TSITP season 3. “Thank you for having me @thesummeriturnedpretty along with the most talented girl in the game @lola.tung 🌹and a bunch of other talented – crazy – silly- beautiful human beings,” he wrote in his caption.

Does Fernando Cattori Have A Girlfriend?

Fernando doesn’t have a girlfriend, but I fear there’s unfortunate news for the girls: He’s gay. In the actor’s website bio, he writes: “As a young closeted gay man, he considered a career in acting.” I didn’t see any signs of a BF when I stalked him on Instagram, so if he’s dating anyone, he’s keeping that part of his life private.

Do Benito And Belly Date In The Summer I Turned Pretty?

*Spoilers ahead.

Yup. Somehow, show creator Jenny Han managed to squeeze a brand new relationship into the penultimate episode of the series! Sparks fly between Belly and Benito as soon as they meet in Paris, but they start out as just friends. In episode 10, Taylor visits Belly in Paris and gives her a pep talk about moving on from Jeremiah. Evidently, it’s a powerful pep talk because Belly proceeds to make out with Benito.

Belly’s determined to keep things casual, but Benito insists on her visiting his family in Mexico City. And with Belly deciding to stay in Paris longer, these two have more of a chance to seriously explore their romance.

Benito is mentioned in the books — in Conrad’s letters to Belly. “[Laur] told me you met some Spanish guy named Benito, and he rides around on a scooter,” Conrad writes, per the book. “Really, Belly? A guy named Benito with a scooter? He probably wears leather pants and has a long stringy ponytail. I don’t even want to know.”

In a later letter, Conrad writes, “I heard you aren’t hanging out with that guy Benito anymore. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…”

Belly and Conrad are endgame in the book, but Jenny did say that the show ending is different from the book ending. We’ll get answers when the finale airs on September 17!
