Clip! Andy Cohen Weighed In On The 'RHONY' Cancellation News

It was a cold Friday afternoon when the world received the chilling news that international beacon of culture, The Real Housewives of New York, was finally being laid to rest after a life-saving resuscitation in 2023. Except that heart-breaking, breaking news, first reported by Page Six, got a big response from the HBIC of Bravo, Mr. Andrew Cohen. TBH, a large portion of the Bravo fandom has been rooting for the RHONY reboot’s downfall since the show first arrived (not me, I’m not that big of a hater). But even more fans found serious cause for pause when new RHONY’s second season pivoted towards pregnancy pranks and pretentious partners rather than developing the bitchy city sisterhood that made the show great. Not to mention the wildly controversial Ubah/Brynn beef from the finale from hell. Maybe that’s why haters and hopefuls alike spread the news of New York doom faster than Ramona Singer and free caviar, she elbowed an entire line to get to first. But is RHONY coming back? Andy Cohen confirmed RHONY’s future.

Is RHONY coming back for season 16?

Yes, according to both Bravo network reps and Andy Cohen, The Real Housewives of New York is not terminated, thank god (you know the voice)! In response to the huge news that Bravo had zero plans to bring back its flagship franchise, like ever, network reps told Us Weekly that “nothing is official” and “the show hasn’t been canceled.”

Andy firmly shut down the rumors under an Instagram post by The Cut. The magazine’s IG account shared their article with the headline “Bye-Bye, RHONY” with the caption “After 15 seasons and two casts, it looks like The Real Housewives of New York City is going dark for now.” A few minutes later, Andy Cohen clapped back in the comments, writing, “this is a cute story except it’s not cancelled.” Oooh, that’s some first-chair attitude from Mr. Cohen!

Just to make himself suuuuper clear, Andy retweeted someone else’s similar comment on the situation with a bunch of “this” pointing emojis. The tweet reads “nothing has happened with RHONY” just because Bravo announced four new shows earlier that week. Well, that settles that!

The RHONY Cast Weighs In On Being Canceled

When Bravo fan accounts posted updates from other outlets, refuting the Page Six story, Sai and Jessel got cute in the comment section. Jessel wrote, “What an emotional rollercoaster.. I thought I was going to have to go back to filming @thewiiingman taco eating content permanently.” Oh, sweet Jessel, I hope it never comes to that! Sai de Silva joked back that she would teach Jessel how to ride the train if she had to.

But, to be fair, just because RHONY isn’t gone for good, doesn’t mean some of the current cast isn’t on the chopping block. And given season 15’s underwhelming response, plus the reaction to the fake news, there’s sure to be a substantial shakeup to please the viewership, right? Right??? (Looking at you, Rebecca.)

Where did the RHONY cancellation rumors come from?

On Wednesday, May 7, days before the viral Page Six report citing an anonymous insider, Sai shared a photo from Jessel’s birthday dinner expressing how much she loved “the unique dynamics of our #RHONY friend group.” The tribute went on to say how the group (notably missing Brynn, FWIW) are “real-life friends who have bonded through an experience” she is “eternally grateful for.” This made some people believe Sai was hinting at the show’s end or her exit from the series, so Sai later confirmed, “Nothing is canceled. I’m not leaving the show and nothing is wrong. It was purely me showing appreciation for a great group of women. It was a positive post.”
