It’s no secret that Lucas Bravo is no longer a fan of his Emily in Paris character, Gabriel. (As a #TeamAlfie woman myself, I get where he’s coming from.)
The French actor criticized Gabriel’s evolution during an October 2024 chat with Indie Wire. “I’ve never been so far away from him,” Lucas said at the time. “They made him kind of unaware of his surroundings. Of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone.” He even admitted that it’s “not fun” for him to film Emily in Paris anymore. Ah yes, I’m sure it’s a brutal job. Can’t imagine.
Lucas completed his contract with Netflix after season 4, and at the time of the Indie Wire interview, he wasn’t sure if he’d return for season 5. He only wanted to come back if Gabriel returned to his “fun, cheeky, playful, alive self.” So, will Lucas Bravo be in Emily in Paris season 5? Here’s what we know.
Is Lucas Bravo In Emily In Paris Season 5?
Why Lucas Bravo Isn’t In The Emily In Paris Season 5 Trailer

You may have noticed that Lucas is missing from the Emily in Paris season 5 trailer. When asked about his absence, the actor wouldn’t confirm or deny an exit from the series. “I like the fact that I’m not in the trailer and that it creates a conversation, and I’m gonna keep the conversation running,” he teased to E! News. “I won’t say anything.” Hmmm.
This was a very unhelpful answer, but fortunately, I’m an excellent Googler. And according to Netflix’s own website, Tudum, Lucas will return to play Gabriel in season 5. His name’s toward the top of the cast list — it’s not exactly a secret. Plus, Netflix shared new season 5 photos with the trailer, and Lucas appears in that dump. Get ready for more Gabriel, folks.
I guess the writers took his feedback and wrote a “fun, cheeky, playful, alive” version of the chef for this season? We’ll see. Considering Lucas didn’t even make the trailer, I’m assuming he doesn’t have that much screen time this season.
In season 5, Emily will be an annoying influencer and break hearts in Paris and Rome. (Remember how she fell for that Italian fashion dude, Marcello, and then opened a Rome office for Agence Grateau in season 4?) “This season is a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris,” creator Darren Star teased to Tudum. “Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”
The new season doesn’t drop until December 18, which is sad, because I want it right now.
