Every Sex Scene in ‘Too Much’ Ranked, For Your Cringe-Filled Agony

Lena Dunham is back — because of course she is — and Too Much is everything you’d expect: raw, horny, deeply uncomfortable, and somehow weirdly moving. Think Girls, but if Hannah Horvath had been a little older and mildly self-aware. It’s the messy millennial spiral we’ve all been waiting for, just with more burns, more spit, and more emotional damage. Naturally, the sex scenes are the soul of the show: awkward, intimate, occasionally hot, and always mildly traumatizing. So, let’s rank all the sex scenes in Too Much because you deserve to relive every cringe in order.

MAJOR SPOILER ALERTS FOR ALL EPISODES OF TOO MUCH!!

A Ranking Of Too Much Sex Scenes By How Much I Cringed Watching It

11. Felix and the Older-Not-Old Lady, Episode 9

Where are my self-sabotaging besties at?! Felix (Will Sharpe) is trying to ruin his relationship with Jess, so he starts drinking and taking drugs. One such night leads him to a middle-aged woman (Jennifer Saunders), and the pair take cocaine together at her home. Before you know it, they’re making out, and she’s asking him to spit in her mouth. Except…she’s on top of him. He tries, it’s a fail, and then they move to the floor. She wakes him up in the morning and cries about her ex-husband, then he encounters her two children on his way out. Honestly, I can’t, I just can’t, guys.

10. Jess and Director, Episode 6

You’re going to see a lot of sex in Episode 6, but this is definitely the worst of the bunch. Jess (Megan Stalter) is spiraling from Felix’s radio silence, so she ends up at the pub with the hotshot Director (Andrew Scott) and, obviously, they wind up in his hotel room. That’s when shit gets weird.

He’s in the middle of going down on her, but insists she beg for it. She has to clarify, “FYI, my underwear is still on,” and then he hits her with a “you bratty little girl” (barfing). Just when you think it can’t get more unsexy, she launches into a bizarre story about killing a hamster. I didn’t know it was possible to not be attracted to Andrew Scott in a sex scene, but there’s a first time for everything.

9. Jess and Latte Guy, Episode 5

Jess and Zev’s relationship is tanking, and a nice man brings her a coffee while she’s on her feet all day. Casey (Beck Nolan) explains this choice by saying he has a single mom and sisterso obviously Jess invites him for a drink, and the two fuck in a taxi. Obviously.

This scene is uncomfortable and hilarious in equal measure: they stick their heads out the window and howl like horny dogs, the poor cab driver is an unwilling witness to this all, and Jess insists on the greatness of the pull-out method — while he casually reveals he is the result of one. Then he tells her he loves her. I HATE IT HERE.

8. Polly and Felix, Episode 6

We met the three Pollys in an earlier episode (still not over it — total fever dream), and learned Felix has history with the French one (Adèle Exarchopoulos). He swears it’s ancient and they’re just friends (okay, King of Red Flags).

After he and Jess fight — mostly about him low-key trying to move in without asking — he heads straight to Polly’s. Naturally, they end up on the couch, his head in her lap, and she’s doing the whole “Do you ever think about us?” routine. Girl, please. Then comes the breathing exercise: passing air back and forth between their mouths. Somehow even weirder than the spit stuff on this show.

They start kissing, but she stops to ask if he loves Jess. And then — speak of the devil — Jess shows up, and Felix leaves with her, while Polly stares tragically out the window like the side character she is.

7. Jess and Felix, Episode 2

It’s their first time, and, honestly, I didn’t think we’d get here. Felix shows up to find paramedics hosing down Jess’s burned torso (just girl things), and somehow he’s still into it? He even helps spring her from the hospital, along with her near-dead dog.

There’s so much talking in this sex scene. Like, bro, she has third-degree burns and you’re worriedyet you proceed with classic missionary?? All the eye contact makes it feel romantic, but I still have logistical concerns. It’srealistic?

6. Kim and Josie, Episode 6

Okay, yes, we’re deep in side character territory, but I’m nothing if I’m not thorough. Kim (Janicza Bravo) is in her post-divorce era and exploring her sexuality, and she’s clearly been eyeing Josie (Daisy Bevan), one of her colleagues.

During a location-scouting trip (classic sapphic setup), they grab dinner and eventually end up in bed. We only get the briefest glimpse of their hookup, but I am HERE for it. WLW WOO! The only downside? Jess’s chaotic singing playing over the whole scene like a horny Greek chorus. Let the gays have their moment in peace!

5. Jess and Zev, Episode 8

Okay, I really struggled with where to put this one because it’snot strictly canon. It happens during a weird wedding hallucination — classic Jess — and involves her imagining a hookup with Zev (Michael Zegen) in the bathroom.

She’s perched on the sink, they’re making out, and he starts going down on her before asking, “You still like spit in your mouth?” (We know she does.) Honestly, my only complaint is that it ends too soon. Give the people what they want!

4. Linnea and Felix, Episode 2

Felix has gone over to Linnea’s (Adwoa Aboah) to end the relationship, as it turns out he has a tendency to just not end things before starting something new… (How many women think they are currently dating him, and am I one of them?) Felix doesn’t get the chance to end it as Linnea ropes him in for some kinky dom/sub play. Before we know it, he’s tied up and she’s spitting on his face. Sorry buthot. Felix is also seemingly into it and has forgotten the reason he came over.

3. Jess and Zev, Episode 5

We do not stan Zev (especially after realizing he’s the shitty ex-husband from Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), but we’ll allow the sex flashbacks.

There’s a moment where he’s fingering her from behind — a solid angle, 10/10 mechanics. Later, in another scene, he tells her he loves her “right down to [your] bones.” Find me a woman who doesn’t want to hear that. I’ll wait.

2. Jess and Felix, Episode 3

This is the infamous sex marathon night. First, he goes down on her on the kitchen floor (hot in theory; concerning in Jess’s filthy flat). Then it’s missionary, she’s on top, on the couch, while he shares Paddington Bear trivia. Later, underrated spooning sex with his hand in her pants.

Finally, a toothbrush-in-mouth, from-behind bathroom counter moment. Felix is [realistically] unable to finish again, and this triggers some insecurity on Jess’ part. Honestly, I hard relate to her rn.

1. Jess and Felix, Episode 3

This is also part of the sex marathon of Episode 3, but I’m gonna give it its own lil spot as I am a really good person.  This time, it’s sleepy, sweet morning sex that takes a sharp turn into spit kink. I support a hawk tuah, but not before brushing teeth, merci.

Then: reverse cowgirl. As a big booty girl, I salute this position. Enjoy the view, sir, while I don’t have to worry about my facial expressions. It’s the Pokémon evolution of doggy style.
