If you’re obsessing over Nobody Wants This and thinking that this adorable, unexpected relationship is simply too good to be true, you’re wrong. The show creator, Erin Foster, literally based the Netflix gem on her real life. Like Joanne in the show, Erin is a chatty blonde and co-hosts a podcast with her chatty blonde sister that’s basically just them yapping about life. Also like Joanne, Erin’s life totally changed when she fell for a Jewish man who had reservations about being with a non-Jewish woman. Yes, there’s a real-life Hot Rabbi, and his name is Simon Tikhman. Okay, well, he’s not a rabbi. But he is the blueprint for Noah. It’s time for a formal introduction to Erin Foster’s husband, Simon Tikhman, the man who inspired Nobody Wants This.

Simon is 40 and Erin is 42, presumably around the same ages as Noah and Joanne in Nobody Wants This. (Adam Brody and Kristen Bell are both 44.)
Is Erin Foster’s Husband, Simon Tikhman, A Rabbi?
The real-life Noah is not a rabbi — he’s actually a record-label owner and the co-founder of the entertainment and talent management company, The Core Entertainment (TCE). According to LinkedIn, The Core primarily cultivates talent in music, sports, film, TV, and tech. Although he’s not quite Rabbi-level, Simon is a devoted Jew and the son of immigrants, hence him inspiring Noah Roklov.
Did Erin Foster Convert To Judaism For Her Husband, Simon Tikhman?
Yes, she did, and considering Nobody Wants This is largely inspired by their relationship, I fear this kind of gives away season 2… if there is one. Erin and Simon met at a gym in 2018 and would regularly make out in the parking lot, keeping their romance a secret from the trainers. When their relationship got more serious than a forbidden gym-mance, Simon explained to Erin that he would only marry a Jewish woman. Erin was all in. She recalled to Vulture, “I was like, ‘You want me? Great. It’d be fun to be part of something.’”
Fortunately, she felt confident about the major life decision and doesn’t seem to have any regrets about it now. “It all worked out,” Erin told The New York Times, adding, “I love being Jewish.” In a May 2024 Instagram post announcing Nobody Wants This, the show creator wrote, “We have a Rom-Com born out of me falling for a nice Jewish boy and never looking back ❤️.” Perhaps Joanne will also never look back? TBD. But that would make for a rather boring TV show, so maybe Erin’s gonna veer away from her own life story if there are more seasons.
