Celebrities Who Have Been Called Out For Being An Asshole

A catchy little jig plays in my head whenever a celebrity freaks out in public. Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do, watcha gonna do when they come for you. If you’re famous, it’s important to keep in mind they will come for you on Al Gore’s internet to make sure the whole world knows how naughty you’ve been and that treatment doesn’t just apply to the boys. If I was lucky enough to be one of God’s favorites AKA being a rich person during late-stage capitalism, you would never catch me without a smile on my face. Like, if *eye* had the capability to Doordash Nobu any given day of the week on a whim, there’s no chance I’d be kicking and screaming over something as petty as losing a restaurant reservation. But then again, who knows? Maybe I would become a grumpy little silver-spooned monster like the A-listers on this list are purported to be. If any sugar daddies or angel investors want to give me the opportunity to find out, I’m all ears. Until then, here’s a recap of all the worst-behaved celebrities in Hollywood — ALLEGEDLY.

The Worst Behaved Celebrities

J.Lo

Unless you’re new to internet rumors, I’m sure you were expecting to see Jennifer Lopez on this list. Despite being the carefree, wild-haired little Bronx girl at heart we saw in her documentary, Jenny From The Block has never been able to beat the allegations that she’s not nice to deal with from unconfirmed rumors about how she treats her personal drivers, to an entire TikTok trend of industry people sharing their alleged unpleasant experiences, to that time on The Met Gala red carpet when J.Lo barely gave the time of day. Who knew Schiaparelli could be a curse word?

James Corden

James Corden has a reported reputation for being a bit of a clandestine diva. The supposed rude behavior may come as a shock to the unsuspecting boomers at home who find the visibly jolly Brit simply hilarious (honestly, humping the air in that rat costume was the rudest thing anyone has ever done to me). Most of the stories are unsubstantiated whispers, like that blind item about a flight to London that went viral on Reddit. The Bitch Bible podcast host Jackie Schimmel told a thinly veiled story about a not-so-nice British comedian giving her the cold shoulder at a group dinner because she wasn’t famous. But Mel B loudly cosigned the gossip with her whole chest when describing how it’s important to treat every member of production on set with kindness, and then stating that James Corden, in her opinion, doesn’t. She even labeled him “the biggest dickhead” in the industry. Spicy! Plus anyone who gets super sassy with Sir Patrick Stewart is on my bad side.

Jimmy Fallon

Ahh, another late-night host whose fake laughing apparently comes to an abrupt halt when the cameras go down, according to reporting by Rolling Stone. Employees anonymously told the magazine the Tonight Show workplace was more than a lil toxic under Jimmy’s watch, so much so that they nicknamed the dressing rooms “crying rooms.” They also allegedly took note of “good Jimmy days” and “bad Jimmy days” laden with outbursts. Yikes! While Fallon never publicly responded to the claims, it was reported he did apologize for “embarrassing” his staff on a Zoom call. Finally, a Zoom meeting that could not have been an email!

Tim Allen

To anyone surprised by this, I must ask: Have you seen Tim Allen perform in literally anything, especially Home Improvement? Casey Wilson gave legs to longstanding hearsay about Tim’s frosty reputation when she called him “so fucking rude,” “a bitch,” and the worst co-star experience she’s ever had after they worked together on the Disney+ show The Santa Clauses. As Wilson tells it, Tim loudly complained about her “stepping on his lines” from across the room and forced a producer to then tinker over to Casey to scold her about it in front of everyone then and there. On set, Casey says Allen made everyone sups uncomfortable by refusing to make eye contact, so that the whole crew was “walking on eggshells”.

Zachary Quinto

A really good actor but a really bad restaurant patron, according to Toronto hotspot Manita. After reportedly being not so nice to some of the staff after missing his reservation and losing his table, the Manita owners took to Instagram to let Spock know his otherwordly behavior was not appreciated. @ManitaOssington wrote in an Instagram story: “Zachary Quinto – an amazing Spock, but a terrible customer. Yelled at staff like an entitled child after he didn’t reply to two texts to inform him his table was ready and refused to believe the empty tables in the dining room weren’t available for him despite being politely informed they were spoken for. Mr. Quinto, take your bad vibes somewhere else, we have many lovely celebrities join us at Manita, but you are NOT one of them.” They even tagged good ol’ Zach for good measure!! Damn, Manita. Manita doubled down on chastising his alleged temper tantrum by posting the original story to their feed with a caption that explained that their staff isn’t “above criticism, but we are above being demeaned.”

Ellen Degeneres

The thing about making an entire brand about treating people with kindness is that people will get reallllly mad when stories about said kind person actually being the opposite break the internet. The viral clip of Dakota Johnson giving Ellen a little cheek (“That’s not true, Ellen”) seemed to give way to a bevy of serious complaints about the beloved comedic host’s behind-the-scenes behavior. NikkieTutorials and one of Ellen’s security guards said the “cold” and “distant” Ellen they worked with was way different than the one everyone knew on TV. Twitter chimed in with a slew of unverified stories ranging from describing insensitive behavior to fans to getting restaurant waitstaff in trouble. Some of the more edgy prank skits on the show were brought into question. And it didn’t help when Ellen called her mansion a prison during the pandemic, especially with allegations of not paying her staff through the crisis, as other big TV shows had done, swirled. Sooo… is now a good time to remind everyone of the old adage, charity starts at home? Okay, maybe a little late.

Anthony Mackie

No celeb wants to constantly be interrupted from their daily programming to take photos with strangers. I actually deeply empathize with this feeling since my parents insist on pointing their iPhones at me without warning every time I visit, snapping rogue shots that somehow always manage to make it to Facebook. But having an entire reputation for shutting fans down unkindly when they ask for a pic is a little bit extra, no? After one New Orleans fan called Anthony Mackie the “rudest man alive” others chimed in on TikTok to share their ire for being chided for simply wanting to compliment their fave on his work.

Lea Michele

Could you believe the fan-favorite conspiracy theory that Lea Michele can’t read isn’t actually the most controversial claim about her? Word on the street also says Lea might not be the nicest. Her Glee co-stars Amber Riley and Heather Morris entered that chat to back up Samantha Ware’s statement that Lea Michele made Glee a “living hell.” Other co-stars from Glee and The Mayor said that the Broadway diva exhibited bullying behavior, like telling lesser-known actors to “shut up” and that they couldn’t sit with the main cast during lunch…oof. It’s understandable that being a star from the time you can talk probably changes the way you see the world, but I think we can all agree every moment can’t be a center-stage one for anyone.

Tobey Maguire

TBH, he’ll always be my Spiderman but apparently the only correct Peter Parker isn’t always so friendly IRL. As a reminder for those of you who may not have been sentient during the glory days of celebrity lore of the early 2000s, Tobey once famously frolicked with Leo DiCaprio, Lukas Haas, Kevin Connolly, and more in a group of players known as the Wolf Pack. In Molly Bloom’s memoir turned my favorite drunk plane movie Molly’s Game, she names a lot of big names, including members of the Wolf Pack, who played in her famous secret celebrity poker match. This included, according to Bloom, Mr. Maguire. In her account, Bloom says Tobey “was the worst tipper, the best player, and the absolute worst loser” who once made her “bark like a seal” for $1000. Aunt Mae would so not approve.
