What Happened To 'Love Is Blind' Star Joey's Sister?

Sisters are a major theme in Love is Blind season 8. Dave is weirdly obsessed with his, Monica and Sara’s sisters are super protective over them, and Joey opens up about his sister’s tragic passing a few times during the season. Joey shares a bit about his late sister, Chasea, while he’s getting to know Monica in the pods, and the subject of Chasea also comes up during his and Monica’s (unsuccessful) wedding. He can also be seen wearing a green bracelet in honor of his sister throughout the season. So, what happened to Joey Leveille’s sister on Love is Blind? Joey shared that his sister died in 2006 at the age of 18. He was 16 at the time. He’s also revealed that she had Cerebral Palsy (CP), a neurological disorder that “permanently affects body movement and muscle coordination,” per the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. In the pods, he told Monica that Chasea was an “incredible person.”

At his and Monica’s wedding, Joey made sure to include his sister and honor her memory by setting up an empty wheelchair in the crowd. Of course, he and Monica did not end up saying, “I do,” but he did share a meaningful speech with all their guests after the marriage was called off.

“One thing my sister, Chasea, had always taught me was to cherish every moment and every little good thing,” Joey said to the family and friends in attendance. “Although we came here, and this was our ultimate decision, I think there’s still a ton of good. And just like my sister would do if she was here, [she’d] find that and cherish that.” He added that he’s “sure” Monica feels the same way.

Joey shared a photo of him and Chasea as babies in a January 2021 Instagram tribute. In his caption, the LIB star reflected on all the important lessons his sister taught him. “Cherish small moments, spend time with the friends and family who mean the most in your life, and never forget to be optimistic,” he wrote. “I find joy in so many things, and I owe that in part to my sister. When I dance, she dances with me, and when I surf, she surfs with me. I share those passions as much as I can as I share my sister’s life through them.”
