What's That About Jason Caperna Not Wearing His Wedding Ring?!

First, she’s sour, then she’s sweet! Yes, that’s the catchphrase for Sour Patch Kids, but it’s also a pretty good way to describe Kristen Doute’s behavior in any given episode of any given reality TV show she appears on for no reason at all. I call this the Lord’s work. In episode 6 of The Valley, Kristen is sweet (almost too sweet, TBH) to her dear bestie Nia, under the gun for her husband Danny’s harassment hot mess. (While Nia didn’t deserve the third degree from Janet’s projection, I do think Kristen and the women could’ve given Jasmine a safer platform to speak about her experience.) That being said, by episode 7, it was time for Doute to clock in for her sour hour, and her target was naturally Janet Caperna. “I mean, it’s pretty simple. Janet wants to go for Danny and Nia, I’m gonna go for Janet.” I’m sat, so here are the rumors about Jason cheating on Janet that Kristen dropped in my lap.

Jason Caperna Cheating Rumors

Did Jason Caperna cheat on Janet?

Jason told Us Weekly, ” I am not one of those [shady] people,” and that he “would never do anything ever to jeopardize…[his] wife and [their] son and the family [they] have.” The “baseless rumors,” as Janet puts it, stemmed from Kristen sharing with that group that Janet’s husband, Jason, takes his ring out when he’s out on the town with the boys.

But The Valley’s mid-season trailer suggests Kristen has more allegations ready to roll out!! During a scene on a boat, Janet tells Kristen, “Jason would never do the things you’re accusing him of.”

What did Kristen say Jason did?

Kristen first told Jesse Lally, “Jason has no room to be talking about anyone’s relationship,” referring to Jason holding Danny’s toes to the fire about his drinking. She went on to dangle, “Keep your wedding ring on all the time, and then you can start talking.” Kristen spilled that “when Jason goes out, he takes his wedding ring off,” which she claims she first heard from Zac and later “confirmed from Jasmine.” When Jesse asked, “Is there any rumors of him cheating?” Kristen delicately said, “I have not heard any, no,” but, um, isn’t the entire point of mentioning he was alleged to be out about town not wearing his wedding ring?!

Did Jason admit he takes his ring off?

No, Jason never agreed that he had taken his ring off intentionally. When confronted by Kristen and Luke at Brittany’s pool party, Jason said, “Never, never have I done that in my life.” Jason was relieved that that’s what Kristen had up her sleeve because there was no truth to the suggestion that he was not even quite cheating but “trying to cheat but failing at it.” Luke’s shaky presentation of the rumor (“I heard a rumor that a year or so ago, Jasmine heard that”) made the allegation all the more wonky.

Jason did admit he may have taken it off at home and forgotten it over the years he’s been married. I have to agree: Jason is “a really chill dude.”

Jason also shared on the premiere carpet for The Valley’s second season that he found the ring rumor “tough because it’s not just a ring off. There’s definitely an implication there because “When somebody says you take your ring off,” they’re suggesting it’s “to try to get girls or something.” Jason dismissed the notion that it’s “as if I take it off and they just flock to me.”
