There’s nothing like a juicy Hollywood tell-all, and Taylor Jenkins Reid knows that. That’s why so many of her books capture all the nitty-gritty drama of entertainment and sports, from a movie star’s secret affairs in the 1960s to the cutthroat world of professional tennis in the 1990s. But her books aren’t just extended, fake DeuxMoi posts. They tell the stories of real, nuanced characters who face real heartbreak. Each tells the story of “a woman who has naked ambition.” Her books are good, and she’s sold over 5 million copies of them to prove it.
Even though a lot of Taylor’s books are about fictional famous figures, the main characters all feel like real people. “You make it a movie star, rock star, supermodel, tennis player, it’s all the same stuff we’re facing: How much of myself do I want to give, and what do I hide?” Taylor said in an interview with TIME in 2022.
A lot of Taylor’s books are set in a fictional version of Hollywood, and real-life Hollywood is paying attention. A bunch of her books have either already gotten or are going to get screen adaptations. And now, with her latest book, Atmosphere, there’s another story in the mix. It’s a lot to keep track of, but don’t worry: here’s your guide to all the Taylor Jenkins Reid book-to-screen adaptations.
Taylor Jenkins Reid Books To Movies/TV Guide
One True Loves
In Taylor’s first author era, before she started focusing on fictional celebs, she wrote more straightforward romantic dramas. Her 2016 book One True Loves falls in this category, and it was turned into a movie in 2023, which starred Phillipa Soo, Simu Liu, and Luke Bracey.
Daisy Jones & The Six
2023 was a big year for Taylor since that’s also when the Prime Video miniseries Daisy Jones & The Six was released. Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, and Suki Waterhouse starred in the adaptation of the 2019 book, which tells the story of a 1970s folk-rock band and the drama that tore them apart.
The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo
Taylor’s first book in her Hollywood batch of books, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is about an aging movie star from Hollywood’s golden era and her many love affairs along the way. Netflix announced they’re producing an adaptation of the book in 2022, and we’re still patiently waiting for it.
Malibu Rising
Set in the 1980s in Malibu, this book is a dreamy novel about the children of an aging rock star. It’s set to become a Hulu series helmed by Liz Tigelaar. She’s already got some book-to-screen cred after making the Little Fires Everywhere series, so expectations are high for this one.
Carrie Soto Is Back
Published in 2022, Carrie Soto Is Back has some major Challengers vibes, telling the story of a female tennis pro in the 1990s. Clearly, it resonated with real tennis players because Serena Williams is producing a Hulu series based on it.
Atmosphere
Atmosphere just came out in June 2025, but we’ve already got confirmation that it’s getting a screen adaptation. This novel about women in the 1980s space race is going to be made into a movie. No word yet on when we’ll get to see this one, but in the meantime, I’m sure we’ll get even more TJR books.
