Summer Beauty Products That Won’t Sweat Right Off

Betches may receive a portion of revenue if you click a link and purchase a product or service. The links are independently placed and do not influence editorial content.

Summer is officially here, which means the temperatures are rising and your makeup is starting to melt off by noon. We all know the feeling when you want to throw out the thick shit and swap in some newer, lighter summertime alternatives. I feel like there are some people out there that can get away with no makeup but, *speaking for myself*, that’s not everyone. So we’ve rounded up all the best summer beauty products that will give you that effortless, no-makeup-but-I’m-still-wearing-makeup look.

Face & Skin

Two words: Sweat. Resistant. Estée Lauder has been in the beauty business for longer than many of us have been alive, and they’ve really hit the nail on the head with this one. With a weightless feel and over 25 shades, your skin will glow all day long.

For those of us who tend to get a bit oilier in the summer (*cough* me *cough*) a powder foundation can keep you shine-free for a lot longer than some liquid products. Bonus points: there’s a built-in primer.

This concealer is honestly everything you needed and more. It’s a concealer, eye cream, and spot treatment all in one little tube. Less time layering products = more time day drinking on rooftops.

I know some of you are thinking, “Setting spray, really? Isn’t it just overpriced water?” But I promise you this product is worth every penny. It’s smudge-proof and transfer-resistant for up to 16 hours and perfect for those late summer nights.

Merit’s cult-favorite complexion stick is not a foundation or concealer, but it also kind of is? Offering breathable and buildable coverage, this lightweight product can also serve as a contour. I mean, what can’t it do?

Eyes

This base layer provides an incredible blank, crease-free (& vegan!) canvas for all the fun beauty trends you’ll want to try this summer. If you’re feeling brave enough to try them, that is. I heard blue eyeshadow is coming back and idk how to feel about it.

Okay, this is definitely a cult favorite of mine. With its smudge-proof formula and shimmery pigments, this stuff is perfect for the golden-hour-every-hour vibe you’re hoping to give off.

Am I the only one whose eyebrows sweat? I didn’t think so. Enter: this Brow Sculpt Shape and Hold Gel by REFY. Whether you want your brows to have that feathery effect or you simply want to make sure they stay in place, this wax/gel hybrid will work wonders.

Talk about natural—the first ingredient listed in this mascara is water. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, and makes people around you ask, “Are those your real eyelashes?” It’s buildable so you can take it from day to night and the only thing that’s flaking is you canceling plans.

Cheeks

For those of us who are locked in an office 24/7, it’s still possible to look sun-kissed without going in the sun. This easy-to-blend formula is perfect for both the bronzing expert and the cosmetic newbie.

This cream-to-powder formula has a natural, yet visible shimmer to it. Highlight for the perfect dewy (not sweaty) look that won’t budge. Also, it’s Rihanna… Enough said.

This blush boasts a 12-hour wear, and I can promise it lives up to the hype. Made with Amazonian clay, this blush glides on seamlessly and provides a true blush, not a fake flush.

Lips

There’s quite literally nothing worse than thick, sticky lip gloss in the heat. This Wet Lip Oil is the perfect balance of treatment and color. It’s light, hydrating, and sheer for a perfect kiss of color.

A lip stain is the ultimate summer lip product—it gives your lips natural color while staying in place virtually all day long. This best-selling cream lip stain is transfer-proof and full coverage—perfect for sweat-filled days or nights.

If you are really going for that “no makeup” makeup look, a balm is perfect for you. This Vanilla Lip Butter Balm smells incredible and can even double up as an overnight lip mask. Great for the beach or bed—my two favorite places.

A Quick 5-Step Beauty Routine To Help You Not Look Dead In The Morning

By the time you get to college, you pretty much have your going-out makeup routine down to a science. However, I think most of us can agree that 8am is not the time to break out a contour palette and smoky eye. When it comes to looking like you aren’t literally the walking dead, less is often more. If you can wake up early enough to do a 12-step routine every morning, more power to you. Or, if you literally couldn’t give less of a f*ck how you look in class or at work, go you.

I, however, am a Libra who craves attention and affirmation from strangers. Thus, I’ve spent the last three years of my college career perfecting an effortlessly “pretty” look so that I can sit in a dark lecture hall every morning. For all of the wisdom I have developed through three years of simultaneously being a hot mess and somehow not looking like sh*t at 8am, keep reading.

Serums

In the most advanced scientific terms, serums really are THAT b*tch. The best way to both feel and look alive in the morning is to start with a solid, hydrated canvas. (I’m talking about your face.) Dull, dry skin just does not look as good as hydrated skin, no matter how much makeup you put on it. With better hydrated skin comes easier application for the rest of your makeup—or at the very least, higher confidence as you roll out of bed and run to class/work.

I read a sh*t ton of Sephora reviews and also follow Dr. Shereene Idriss (my Glossier, Allure, and American Board of Dermatology-endorsed queen) on Insta, so I am legally allowed to say this: go out and buy yourself a f*cking vitamin C serum. It has done wonders for me in terms of brightening my skin, helping with texture problems, and recurring acne spots. For the best results that will help give your skin that “dewy and effortless” look, be sure to look for ascorbic acid, the most stable and effective form of vitamin C, according to dermatologists.

Pearlessence Radiance Perfecting Serum

My vitamin C serum of choice is the Pearlessence Radiance Perfecting Serum, because Jonathan Van Ness said to use it. This serum has both vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, another ingredient that aids in plumping and soothing the skin. The Ordinary is also a great place to shop for serums, as they use high-quality, pure ingredients but do not mark up their items as heavily as other companies—meaning most of their serums are around $10.

The thing to keep in mind is that the more you prep your skin for each day with various serums or concentrated ingredients, the more refreshed and hydrated you will both look and feel.

Rollers

Is this 2018? No. But am I still jade rolling my face? Absolutely. I have terribly puffy under eyes, and this is often what makes you look the most tired after an all-nighter, or what can be a dead giveaway that you spent a few hours crying after an exam. The quickest and most effective way to help your eyes look a bit less puffy is to keep the jade roller in your fridge or freezer, and quickly roll upwards around the eye area and cheeks in the morning. The coolness helps eliminate swelling, and nothing really wakes you up quite like rubbing a cold rock on your face for a few minutes.

herbivore Jade Facial Roller

Herbivore Jade Facial Roller

This is also a good hack to use on your neck when you get a little sore from studying or staring at a laptop for too long. Do not, however, let Gwyneth Paltrow scam you into spending a ton of money on one of these claiming it is “rose quartz” or whatever.

Tinted Sunscreen (Or Moisturizer)

I know I sound like a mom telling you to put on sunscreen, but if you want to avoid looking like Yzma in 20 years, just f*cking use it! To kill two birds with one stone in the morning, buy a tinted one. Boom! You literally smear it all over your face for 20 seconds and have a slightly more uniform complexion, while also protecting yourself from sun damage.

Elta MD tinted sunscreen SPF 46

My go-to is the Elta MD tinted sunscreen SPF 46 because I read once that Kendall Jenner uses it and it also has a full five stars on Ulta’s website. As you can see, the standards for what I put on my face are really high. My favorite part about this sunscreen is the tint, as adding a light coloration really quickly in the morning can do wonders for making your complexion look a little smoother and glowy. You also don’t have to worry about harsh lines or patchy spots as you rush to put it on. A lighter, more transparent coat of color will not create the caked-on or streaky look that foundation often does if not applied carefully.

Cream blush

When my idiot sister tried to show me this trick, I thought she was legit insane, but now I absolutely swear by it. In the morning, after applying your tinted moisturizer/sunscreen, take a cream blush, and LIGHTLY dab it above the apples of your cheeks and then down and on the tip of your nose. By applying it slightly above the apples of your cheeks, you draw the eyes up, which can provide a nice contrast to the exhausted eye bags almost all college students and people over the age of 23 are cursed with.

Glossier Cloud Paint

The key word here, however, is “lightly.” If you try and recreate this with too much blush you will look like an absolute clown. I recommend using Glossier’s Cloud Paint for this. It is super lightweight, comes in a bunch of beautiful shades, and you only need to use a tiny bit for max effectiveness, making your $18 investment last ages.

Natural Highlighter

Taking five seconds to dab on a bit of highlighter can give you a natural glow. The Wet n’ Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder is literally $6, and surprisingly good quality for a product you can find in a drugstore. Put it at the top of the cheekbones, the top of the nose, and a little on the center of your eyelid. Keep in mind that if you aren’t wearing a lot of other makeup, too much highlighter will look crazy. It’ll likely look less like a glow and more like you were snorting glitter. Remember the highlighter craze à la Jeffree Star? The one about blinding the nearest driver with the reflection coming off of the side of your face? Yeah, this is not that.

wet n wild highlighting powder

Wet n’ Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder

I live and die by these products. However, you need to research various products to find what works for you. Seriously, I can’t stress this enough. Not every product will work the same on everyone. Regardless, these products should take you less than 10-15 minutes to apply in the morning before class. Hopefully, you’ll feel more confident as you integrate them into your morning routine. Now when you show up 20 minutes late to class with an iced coffee, you’ll look good doing it.

Affordable Highlighters Under $12 That Actually Work

Careless Morgan is a beauty influencer who shot to fame with her viral ‘bullshit makeup tutorial.’ Her content embraces carefree expression, a love for all things makeup, and the exploration of inner beauty and confidence. Follow her on Instagram at @carelessmorgan.

Makeup is f*cking expensive. There, I said it. Not all of us have $130 to spend on a single highlighter this month…or this year. Looking at you, La Mer. So, for all of you baddies on a budget, here are my beauty guru-approved makeup items that won’t break the bank. I know that when money is tight, every little bit counts. I’ve been there, and I make sure my money does not go to waste. With your makeup, you always want to make it last as long as possible, so here are a couple of my favorite tips for using highlighter.

One of my all-time favorite beauty hacks require one simple thing, and you can get it right from your sink. WATER! Normally, when we are finished with empty spray bottles, we throw them away. NO MA’AM! Not I. Save those bottles, clean them well, and fill them up with good old H2O. Whether I’m dealing with a name brand beauty blender, a favorite highlighter brush, or en e.l.f. beauty sponge, what I love to do is spray water on my brush/sponge, dip it into my highlighter, and immediately start applying product on the parts of my face that I want to enhance with that banging glow. The water makes the product brighter, and gives it more of a glimmering, metallic appearance.

If you’re looking to make your highlighting products last longer, do what I do! STRRRRRETCH those products out. Here’s another hack I do to make my highlighter last that much longer: I use my beauty sponge to take some of the product, and pat it into my skin, rather than rubbing or brushing it on. By doing that, you’re pushing it in there and blending it out to make it look as glowy as possible! By applying it with the patting method, it evenly buffs it into my skin, basically forcing it to collide with my foundation. Often times, a highlighting brush sheds off most of your product just by moving it back and forth. I tried this beauty hack about three years ago, and trust me, IT WAS A MIRACLE. I not only noticed I was saving product, but I also noticed how beautifully my skin soaked up the highlighter, leaving it with a smooth finish.

Now that you’ve got the best secrets on using highlighter, here are some of my favorite inexpensive options to make your face glowy AF. Take notes.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Baked Highlighter

e.l.f. Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls, $4.00

For $4, this Champagne Pop dupe is a highlighter must-have! I enjoy this highlighter the most when I’m going for a really deep makeup look. I’m talking intense contour paired with a huge pop of shine, all thanks to this less than $5 highlighter. Its golden undertone makes it a lot easier to blend with my bronzer, making everything seem flawless, even if I’m in a rush.

I also love using this highlighter as an eyeshadow—two-in-one! Applying a little bit to my inner corner leaves me looking like I got a full 8 hours of sleep, which literally never happens. That simple pop of brightness can bring together your entire look, and take things to the next level.

Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter

Physicians Formula Butter Highlighter in Champagne, $11.49

I cannot stand patchy makeup products. You can spend forever on a look, and then it’s ruined instantly. Highlighter is normally meant to make your strongest points stand out from the rest of your face, but this highlighter also blends so nicely with the rest of my makeup. It really is like butter. It applies on my cheekbones in the smoothest and creamiest way. The price is a little bit higher than the rest on the list, but it’s definitely worth every cent. Prepare to have a new favorite, so you can thank me later.

Maybelline Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter

Maybelline FaceStudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold, $9.99

3 words: PIG-MEN-TATION! (Okay, so those are not exactly distinct words, but you get what I mean.) This metallic highlighter gives a glow like none other. The formula of this product is amazing and the pigmentation is phenomenal—especially for something under $10. You no longer have to dip back into the product 100 times to get the look you want. If you’ve ever had to do that with a crappy highlighter, not anymore!

NYX Land Of Lollies Highlighter

NYX Land of Lollies Highlighter in Powdered Sugar, $5.60

I absolutely LOVE NYX! When I found about this product, I was in love. It’s inexpensive and irreplaceable! This highlighter is not only beautiful in the package, but gorgeous on your actual skin. I love putting this specific highlight color on my nose. I draw an exclamation point, starting from the top of my bridge to the tip at the bottom, and it makes my nose appear Kardashian-level snatched. It leaves my face looking more structured and put together with whatever makeup look I’m going for.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighter

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighter in Precious Petals, $4.69

This $5 Wet ‘n Wild beauty is so amazing that it fits right in with the high-end highlighters. I love this highlighter for a natural, dewy look! It gives me a nice glow without making me look like a complete ball of grease. For an everyday highlighter, this bad boy is the one. Believe me when I say that you would never be able to tell that it was less than $5. Out of all 5 of these beauties, this is my all-time favorite drugstore highlighter.

The Beauty Product You Should Try According To Your Sign

January f*cking sucks. And February is honestly worse. It’s dark, it’s cold, and Colton’s Bachelor season is making me concerned about the state of our future. So what better way to brighten up this dreadful time than with some beauty products specially chosen to fit your zodiac sign? I mean, who doesn’t love a little customization, especially when your horoscope is involved?

Aries

SKINFOOD Black Sugar Mask Wash Off

Although a spa day probably doesn’t sound like the best use of your precious time, it’s good to put that hard-working mind to rest for a bit, Aries. You’re courageous, so you’re totally into trying new products, but you’re also super impatient and can’t afford to sit and soak all day. SKINFOOD has been creating food-based beauty products since 1957, so you can bet they’ve perfected their method by now. This sugar-based exfoliating mask will have you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed in less than 20 minutes.

Taurus

Love Beauty and Planet Murumuru Butter Rose Blooming Color Shampoo

You’re super responsible, Taurus, so your beauty products should be too. Love Beauty And Planet has the most luscious and sweet-smelling shampoo. Your practical self can find this shampoo at your local Ulta for under ten dollars. It’s also sulfate-free so it won’t ruin your Keratin-drenched locks or newly colored hair. The best part? It’s infused with a ton of organic sh*t, has not been tested on animals, and comes in a bottle made of 100% recycled plastic. How boho of you, Taurus.

Gemini

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

While being a social butterfly has its perks, most social events you’ve been attending involve an indulgent amount of alcohol. So let’s give your liver a break and show your dried-out skin some love. Like you, the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is gentle and affectionate, smoothing out your dehydrated skin. Don’t let your indecisiveness keep you from trying this product. Besides, it’s basically a cult classic at this point, so you really can’t go wrong.

Cancer

Caudalie Vinopure Skin Perfecting Serum

Since the New Year, you’ve been in go-mode. Whether that be in your career, relationships, or Insta-stalking abilities, you’ve been putting a ton of effort into your passions. With that, though, can come some neglect, specifically of your face. Skipping a few morning face washes? Thought so. This lightweight Caudalie serum has everything you need in one bottle. The salicylic acid base flushes out excess oil, tightens your pores, and activates your skin’s natural glow.

Leo

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter

You’re stubborn as hell, Leo, so I can’t convince you of much, but if you want one beauty product in your life right now, it’s Becca’s Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter. With colors to complement every skin tone and type, this highlighter takes any flat-faced makeup look to the next f*cking level. Even if you don’t want to admit it, we all know you’re dramatic AF, so don’t deny your makeup look of the same impact. So try and listen to someone other than yourself for once, Leo—I promise it’ll pay off.

Virgo

Guerlain Cils D’Enfer Maxi Lash Volume Creating Curl Sculpting Mascara

It’s been a rocky start to the New Year, Virgo, but things are finally turning around for you. Your constant anxiety will probably subside, but if it doesn’t, let’s at least make you look like you’ve got your sh*t together. In my mind, a great mascara can fix practically anything. My go-to is always Guerlain’s Mascara Cils D’Enfer. Getting this mascara in any other color than black is a sin. Their serum is one of the darkest I’ve ever used, which is perfect for your all-black wardrobe, Virgo. It’s reliable and loyal, just like you, so it’s worth the splurge.

Libra

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

You may be the queen of fairness, Libra, but lately you’ve been acting like a bad bitch. And we love it on you. To match your bold new attitude (without straying too far from your comfort zone), try out a classy and defined brow look. The best of the bunch? Anastasia Brow Wiz. With its fine tip and waxy formula, you’ll get an Insta-worthy brow every time. Even when life takes you for a turn, your harmonious personality can come through in the symmetry of your eyebrows—cause life is better with perfect brows.

Scorpio

Big Blue Bath Bomb

It’s cold as ice, and I’m not talking about your heart, Scorpio. In this frigid weather you’ll have to be taking extra good care of yourself, because we all know how f*cking dramatic you get every time you catch a cold. It’s annoying. Instead, take a nice warm bath with a Lush Big Blue Bath Bomb. This lavender and lemon-scented bomb fills your bath with ocean-blue goodness. Light a few candles, grab a book, and in no time you’ll have an Insta-worthy bath (but don’t actually post it please).

Sagittarius

Tom Ford Shadow Extreme Eye Shadow

Ever since the start of 2019, you’ve been overly generous with your time, Sagittarius. So it’s okay to be a little selfish as we slip into the icy month of February. While it may seem pricey for an eyeshadow, the Tom Ford Shadow Extreme Eye Shadow has been voted Allure’s best in beauty, so it’s totally worth the extra bucks. Choose from an array of vivacious and flirty colors that only a Sagittarius like yourself could pull off. It’s time to start putting yourself first again, so bring on the bold eyes.

Capricorn

NEOM Organics London Perfect Night’s Sleep Face Oil

It’s been an exhausting past few months for you, Capricorn, and as self-disciplined as you are, you haven’t been the most responsible. Ever since that office holiday party, you’ve gone just a touch too hard (did I say a touch? How about a slap). Ending off the month, it’s time for you to re-find your ~zen~ space. The NEOM Organics London Perfect Night Sleep Face Oil is full of rejuvenating vitamins. It also encourages sleep (IDK how, I’m not a scientist) so you’ll be getting those eight hours in without stress.

Aquarius

Take Me For Pomegranate Lip Whip

Happy birth month, Aquarius! You know what that means? A big-ol’ birthday present for yourself. You’re an independent and unique woman, so buying yourself a gift can be a little tricky. We know you don’t want to go for anything too mainstream. Beauty Bakerie is an adorable indie makeup brand that packages and names all of their products in the theme of food or baking (could it get any cuter?). Get that bold birthday lip look with their Take Me For Pomegranate lip whip. Bonus: it’s vegan, paraben- and cruelty-free, and smudge-proof.

5 Common Mistakes You’re Making With Highlighter

Highlighter is the trendiest makeup product that you should be using rn. The goal is to have beautiful, glowing skin, whether you’re fresh-faced or going totally glam. However, since it’s a comparatively new item added to our beauty repertoire, people are still really screwing this up. It’s like when eyebrows became trendy and we all filled them in so hard they looked like they were drawn in with Sharpie. It took practice to get used to feathering them out and figuring out the pencil/gel/powder debacle. You’ll get used to highlighter eventually, but just in case you don’t, lemme help you out. Here are 5 highlighter mistakes you’re probably making, and how to fix it before anybody notices.

1. Putting It In The Wrong Spots

The point of highlighter is to highlight where the sun would naturally hit your face. Yes, that includes even the fun colors. This means you should highlight your cheekbones (above where you put your blush), your brow bone, nose, and chin. If you want to make yourself look more awake and your lips look bigger, dab some highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes and above the center of your lips. You can also use it on your collarbones or breasts to emphasize them. Do not just sweep it mindlessly everywhere. It’s not 2002 and you’re not using sparkly Victoria’s Secret lotion. Do not put it on a zit. You’re highlighting certain things to look dewy and more contoured. There’s a reason for it.

2. Not Priming

Now that we know highlighter only belongs in select places, if you’re going to wear it, you need to make sure it does not budge. That means your priming and setting game needs to be on point. A primer provides the perfect base for your skin, melts imperfections so the texture is even, and keeps your makeup from smudging or getting oily. I like SHASHBOX Photo Finish Foundation Primer, but you live your life how you see fit.

Image result for smashbox photo finish foundation primer

SMASHBOX Photo Finish Foundation Primer

Now, setting spray sets your makeup. Duh. We’ve talked about how obsessed I am with Supergoop! Defense Refresh Setting Mist, so if you are still reading my articles and haven’t tried it yet IDK what you’re doing with your life. You should be using primer and setting spray if you want your makeup to last more than like, 2 hours. You don’t want your careful highlighting to end up smudged all over your entire face.

3. Using Too Much

If the point is to look pretty and dewy and like your cheekbones could cut glass and you’re not hungover, then putting highlighter all over your face is not going to do that. It’s going to make you look greasy, oily, and sweaty. Don’t do it. Much like with blush or bronzer, use this sh*t in moderation and only just enough.

4. Not Matching Colors

Maybe this just bothers me, but if you’re going to go all out and do a colored highlighter, please match it to your color family (or complement it). I love colored highlighter, but do it right. Does anyone else care about this? Probs not. But it’ll make your whole effect look more put together if you try. For example, if you’re wearing a bluish-red lipstick (like a cool tone), use the blue highlighter. If you’re doing a warm brown eyeshadow, use gold highlighter. Do you see? You’re matching, like you would clothes or jewelry.

5. Using Too Many Products

Unless you’re a makeup artist and you know how to put on no less than 56 products and still somehow make it look like you’re wearing zero makeup, be careful with piling on too much product on your face. The more stuff you add, the more likely it is to cake, crease, or crack (again, use primer first always—it will help). But if you’re going to wear heavy foundation, heavy blush, a f*ckton of bronzer, maybe like, go easy on the highlighter? You know, pick a lane. I don’t really like heavy makeup anyway, so I recommend getting a light and blendable highlighter, like the Winky Lux Strobing Balm Cream Highlighter that will melt into your skin instead of piling on top of everything else. The point is to look naturally glowy, not like the scary clown from IT.

Using the waterproof to seal in the regular mascara will leave you questioning why you ever settled for lame mascara and lame sex.

4. L’Oréal Paris Cosmetics True Match Lumi Glow Amour Boosting Drops

7. Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Another Too Faced product made the list solely because, well, this foundation is the absolute tits. The amount of coverage this foundation gives without looking cakey is unparalleled. The best part? The Prettiest Spring Makeup Trends You Have To Try

It’s almost spring bitches, so you need to prepare what to put in your beauty arsenal now. Put away those winter dark tones and icy highlighters, I’m here to tell you what the hottest spring makeup trends will be. Some of these are heinous and need to be avoided like a guy who sends “good morning beautiful” texts, some are actually like, really pretty and you should attempt them if you are a skilled professional. Regardless of which spring makeup trends you decide to attempt, these all mean one thing: you have to buy new makeup. You’re welcome.

Spring Makeup Trends To Try

1. Colored Highlighter

Highlighter has been an essential for a few years now, but this spring is all about adding a pop of color to your highlight. All over the runway, models have been wearing both warm and cool toned highlights, with gold being the most popular. Color coordinate your highlighter to the rest of your ~look~ and bring your selfies to the next level.

How to use: Apply your highlight to your cheekbones, eyebrow bone, nose, above your top lip, chin, and inner eyes.

2. Super Short Hair or Super Long Hair

Spring runways showed two basic hairstyles: extremely short and chopped, and long, wild, 90’s hair. If you’re into extremes, go hack your shit off and be super fashion forward. Otherwise, start taking your fish oil pills and gummy vitamins to grow out your mane, which you then need to part down the middle and leave half-styled and greasy. Or there are always extensions.

3. Cat Eye

Cat eyes are always in style, but this spring is taking it to another level. The cat eyes of today are super graphic, so don’t worry if you have no coordination with your liquid eyeliner. The rule here is the thicker the better, so go ahead and mess up and go over it 100x until your eye skin is raw.

What to get: STILA Stay All Day® Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner

This is the best, blackest, and longest lasting eyeliner ever.

How to use: Perfect your cat eye by lining your top lash line first. Then, start your wing following the same angle as your BOTTOM lash line. This keeps you from accidentally dipping down and giving you sad basset hound eyes. The wing should go about as wide as the end of your eyebrow. Then just connect in between both lines. Thicken it as needed and line the bottom if you want to be extra bold.

4. Geranium Lip

Red lips are a fashion staple, but this year, for a more orange-red. The exact shade is geranium and it’s a universally flattering shade, as well as one of the hottest spring makeup trends. It’s brighter and more cheerful than your winter plum reds, so it’ll brighten up your sad, hungover face.

Spring Makeup Trends To Avoid

1. Frosted Blue Eyeshadow

This was suuuuuper fashion forward in 7th grade, and it needs to stay there. Unless you are a stripper, there is no excuse for wearing this shit.

2. White Eyeliner

Why? Why is this a thing? You can use white eyeliner to line the inner corner of your eyes or your waterline, but otherwise, this should be stopped.

3. Too Graphic Eyeliner

Unless you are Lady Gaga, stick to the cat eye (see above) and let sad makeup die.
