If you’re an avid drinker of cocktails (and fucking duh of course you are), you’re all about using herbs to freshen up an otherwise dull drink. Mint with mojitos is a must; gin fizzes with rosemary are amazing; and spiked lemonade with thyme is a fantastic way to beat the heat. So why should our fav Mexican friend, cilantro, be left out?
Sipping on a mixture of tequila, triple sec, salt, and sugar shouldn’t end there – we say, make that shit festive with some pretty green cilantro leaves and an herby undertone for a more sophisticated margarita.
- 1 ½ oz tequila (use a white tequila – or blanco – from 100% agave or whatever be classless and use Jose)
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- ½ oz Cointreau or Triple Sec
- 1 tbsp cilantro, chopped
- 1 sprig cilantro
- Salt for rimming the glass
Place the salt in a shallow dish. Moisten the rim of your margarita glass then dip in the salt. Fill the glass with ice, then add all of the ingredients except the cilantro sprig, stirring a few times until all the ingredients are friends. Stick in the cilantro sprig and bask in your herbal alcohol.
