On this glorious day of August 23, 2024, Sabrina Carpenter’s album, Short n’ Sweet, is finally blessing our ears. Admittedly, the songs aren’t all what I expected. I thought every tune would be inspired by Barry Keoghan, the short Irish king she’s been publicly dating all year. Instead, several of the songs appear to be about Sabrina’s early 2023 fling with Shawn Mendes and how that ended when he reunited with Camila Cabello. But! We did still get a couple Barry gems, thank goodness, and I’m completely obsessed with them. These tracks are some of the funniest and sexiest songs on the record.

All The Songs On Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet Inspired By Barry Keoghan
Is “Bed Chem” About Barry Keoghan?
“Bed Chem” is Thee Barry Keoghan anthem on Short n’ Sweet (besides “Please Please Please”). In this sickeningly catchy tune, Sabrina talk-sings: “Ooh (Ah) / Who’s the cute boy with the white jacket and the thick accent?” Spoiler alert: Canadians’ accents aren’t that thick, so I don’t think she’s referring to Shawn here. Barry, of course, is an Irish icon, and his accent is one of his best features. Sabrina also sings, “Said you’re not in my timezone, but you wanna be.” He would probably follow her to any timezone.
Is “Juno” About Barry Keoghan?
Unfortunately, there are no accent or timezone references in “Juno” to help us confirm it is indeed a Barry song. I just suspect it’s a Barry song because all the Shawn songs are roasts and all the Barry songs are horny. It’s called analyzing patterns. “I know you want my touch for life / If you love me right, then who knows?” Sabrina sings in the chorus. The message reminds me of the ultimate SNS Barry song, “Please Please Please” — she really likes him, but she’s giving him a warning. “I might let you make me Juno” is probably the horniest line on the album, and that’s saying a lot.
Is “Please Please Please” About Barry Keoghan?
As I’ve implied, inspiring “Please Please Please” should just go on Barry’s resume at this point. Obviously, Sabrina references the fact that he’s an actor, she touches on his different “culture,” and she suggests that he’s kind of red flag. (Which the Saltburn star most definitely is.) We basically got confirmation that he’s the subject of the song when he starred in the Bonnie and Clyde-esque music video alongside Sabrina.
I wanna thank Barry for his service, and I wanna thank Sabrina for her genius.
