Topher Grace playing a deranged drug dealer was not on my bingo card for 2025. Yeah, I’m talking about Topher Grace, who played dorky Eric Forman on That 70s Show and an equally dorky dad character on Home Economics. So seeing him play a dangerous criminal in Netflix’s The Waterfront was a shock, to say the least. But once I got over that surprise, it was fun to realize just how juicy the drama in The Waterfront is.
The Waterfront tells the story of the dysfunctional Buckley family, who have a small fishing empire in a small town in North Carolina. But all that gets turned on its head when they get embroiled in a drug smuggling scheme. And that’s where Topher Grace’s drug dealer character comes in.
“It’s just about a bunch of people who make mistakes,” series creator Kevin Williamson told Netflix. “They do some bad things, and then they get in deeper and deeper and deeper. Sometimes they keep making worse mistakes, and sometimes they find their way out and do the good thing.”
By the end of The Waterfront season 1, the Buckleys have partnered with the Parker family, and they’ve all had to fight off Topher Grace’s character, Grady. And although they defeat Grady in the end, the season 1 finale leaves the door open for more schemes in the future. Here’s what we know about a potential season 2 of The Waterfront.
The Waterfront Season 2
What’s the plot of The Waterfront season 2?
Well, there hasn’t been an official season 2 renewal for The Waterfront… yet. Season 1 is at the top of every Netflix list, so the audience is clearly here for more drama from Havenport. And although everything wrapped up with Grady dying at the end of season 1, season 2 can still pick up with the Buckleys and the Parkers continuing business together.
Who’s in the cast of The Waterfront season 2?
The season 2 cast of The Waterfront will likely feature the season 1 series regulars. The season 1 cast includes Holt McCallany as Harlan, Maria Bello as Belle, Melissa Benoist as Bree, Jake Weary as Cane, Danielle Campbell as Peyton, Brady Hepner as Diller, Rafael Silva as Shawn, Humberly Gonzalez as Jenna, Dave Annable as Wes, Matthew Davis as Captain Curtis, Michael Gaston as Sheriff Porter, and Gerardo Celasco as DEA Agent Sanchez. And, of course, Topher Grace as Grady met his demise in season 1, but there’s always the chance he could come back in flashbacks in season 2.
