Memorial Day Weekend is here, and you know what that means? Absolutely nothing. Actually no, Tan Your Back Sunday adopts a second name and that is, Blackout Sunday. So put on your Sunday best kids, we're going to tan, drink, tan some more, nap, pregame, and blackout.
And can you imagine a better way to commemorate the troops than with some fucking dubstep? I mean this weeks shit is great, if we do say so ourselves. Because the people who find them are members of an elite squad known as the Special Googling Unit. These are their songs. ::cue Law & Order: SVU gong::
Zedd – Spectrum (ft Matthew Koma): At first you think this might be a slightly more upbeat Enya with the vocals of a Bieber impersonator but then at like 35 seconds there's a moment of dubstep clarity and you're like, I get it.
Alesso and Dirty South – City of Dreams: If you're a fan of the song Phazing, a Dirty South fave of ours, this is essentially the same song but with less Rudy and more Alesso. Major potential to become a sleeper obsession…. and if not, we can totally see it in the background of the next installment of how google chrome magically brought a couple back together.
Kanye West feat. Big Sean, Pusha T, 2 Chainz – Mercy: We know this is a month old and we rarely post about rap but this is one of the most dynamic songs we've heard in a while. What does that even mean? Point is, it reminds us of summer and summer reminds us of smoking blunts and smoking blunts reminds us of this song. Boom, Circle of Life.
Alphabeat – DJ (Madeon Remix): This has a very strong 80s vibe, like if it were a little worse it could've been performed by Drew Barrymore in Music and Lyrics or by me in my 6th grade dance recital….. but in a good way.
A-Trak and Dillon Francis – Money Makin: Like much of A-Trak's work this song sounds like it took a triple dose of Adderall this morning. It consists of four words and they are: money, making, breaking, taking. Oh and “put the cash in my hand.” Good one, A. On a side note, wouldn't it be funny if A-trak texted his friends ambiguous and rarely dangerous threats from a blocked number and kept signing them with, 'A'…
Cazzette Live Set at EDC NY: Okay so we've heard of Cazzette before but we've never HEARD Cazzette before, you know? And after EDC we're like all about fucking Cazzette. Rihanna's 'Where Have You Been' is around 18:00 and we really died…sooo maybe we're still just all about Riri…whatever. Cazzette, cassette, tomato, tomato.
